Would have been painful for the Rangers in another way too, even if they hadn't had to part with Profar. They are, after all, the team that let him go for nothing 4 years ago. (And the Mets almost certainly were demanding Profar)
Yep. There were other teams (esp. Rangers) who also wanted Dickey. You can't just decide what players you want to send and make it happen. That said it WAS a crazy overpay.
And there's not a good platoon option either.
