    Phillies Have Agreement With Back-Of-Rotation Starter By Steve Adams [December 12, 2013 at 8:55am CST] Phillies general manager Ruben Amaro Jr. told reporters, including Jim Salisbury of CSN Philly, that he has an agreement in place with a free agent starting pitcher (Twitter link). Though he didn't specify the name of the pitcher, as the deal is pending a physical, the Philadelphia Inquirer's Matt Gelb reported that it was a back-of-the-rotation type of arm (on Twitter). Gelb notes on Twitter that the Phillies have had interest in Jerome Williams, who would fit Amaro's description, though it's not certain that he's the starting pitcher in question. Whoever the "mystery player" is will fall in line behind Cliff Lee, Cole Hamels and Kyle Kendrick, with Cuban signee Miguel Alfredo Gonzalez serving as a rotation option for manager Ryne Sandberg as well.
