    I'm already tired of these stories about all these guys poised for breakout seasons. At this point I refuse to get sucked in. Every other team has 25 guys poised for great seasons too and guess what? Most of them won't.

    And I actually I like each of those moves (though would have much preferred Ruiz to Navarro) It's just that it's obviously not nearly enough. Saved $ from 1. should have been spent on free agent SP and 2B.

    Agree on all counts, and yes it is WAY too much to ask for A Lind platoon partner takes pressure off him Sainging Jimenez would have made a Dickey failure or Morrow injury more sustainable Infante or Drew or a trade for 2B would mean we could survive a Lawrie or Reyes injury stint better

    Yes yes yes yes This is exactly right. Even most of the naysayers were at least willing to go along for the ride with path 1, recognizing that it may only be delaying the need for a total rebuild. But yeah there was no acceptable "in between" option at all. Another .500 season +/- 2-3 wins accomplishes nothing
