This has nothing to do with being reactionary or giving up on guys too early. These pitchers would have been sent down again even if they threw 5 no-hit innings. We have 2 starters on the DL and two more that probably should be, and basically no one is going deep into the game. This is simply trying to prevent the entire pen from going on the DL too from being overworked. We haven't risked losing anyone that remotely matters in these moves (with the possible exception of Jeffress, and we got away with with that). Laffey would be nice right now, but there wasn't room to carry him at the time.
The only thing I don't like about these moves are if it causes bad feelings by the players towards the organization. If they were signed or picked up and told that this is likely what would happen, then there's no issue at all.
