  1. Normally I hate lots of off days, but we really really need them right now.
  2. 3 games not including tonight (although the equivalent of 4).
  3. I wonder about guys coming in out of high school or college throwing 100+ innings, and then they get into the minors with short season and it seems like they throw very few for a year or two. I kind of wonder if that has something to do with it, especially at a time when the body is still developing.
  4. I don't think that's the cause of the injuries though, which was my point.
  5. I think we do have serious issues with developing players, but I don't think it has anything to do with the injuries. The only thing I can think of is that we stress heavily that every guy coming up should be able to throw the changeup, but I doubt that's causing it. I still kind of wonder if cut fastballs are causing some of the problems all teams are seeing recently.
  6. We may not have to (yet), since JJ is returning. Dickey, JJ, Buehrle, Jenkins, Rogers.
  7. Maybe it actually is Wilner masquerading as a troll of himself.
  8. AA needs to make amends with the witch doctor who cursed our pitching staff.
  9. It looked like it was only 3 or 4 rows back, and he absolutely crushed it.
  10. EE barely got that one out, and that was crushed.
  11. Our only other option was probably Nolin, at least without further screwing over the 40 man.
  12. Melky looks like he's running a little better tonight.
  13. That had so much air under it I though Rasmus had a chance on it. I think he thought it was gone.
  14. Only good things can happen here. We either get the pitcher's spot out of the way or get in a run.
  15. Rasmus for Gyorko please!
  16. At least he went down looking
  17. Love the passion Ortiz plays with. Obviously still rather see Morrow though.
  18. Wow, I thought EE had that for sure.
  19. The entire year so far wasn't. Let's face it, the game wouldn't be much fun if reality always matched paper. Still, lots of time in the year to go. JJ should be hopefully a shot in the arm.
  20. Buchholz still going to his hair before every pitch, but at least he seems to have abandoned the arm.
  21. And I forgot Ellsbury also was
  22. Looks like quite a few middle end starters on the FA list next year too, although a little light on higher end (Halladay if he returns to normal, Johnson, Kuroda): Garza, possibly Floyd or Hammel, Haren, Hudson, Hughes, possibly Lincecum (his xfip is still pretty good), Marcum, Nolasco, Oswalt, Ervin Santana
  23. I really like the idea of McCann. If JPA wasn't moved, he could be used as the backup catcher and part time dh and still probably get 100+ games in the starting lineup. I dislike the idea of trading many of the names on that list, but for Kinsler / Profar level talent it would be worth it. I also think this would be a really good time to offer JJ a smaller term extension (2 years). It would give him a chance to regain value and still put himself in line for a big contract, and we'd get to keep him during this competitive window. Other guys who could be interesting are Ruiz (who should come cheaper than McCann), possibly Ellsbury or Granderson depending on the cost, Choo if he drops Boris.
