  1. Interesting. I think I actually like Polanco's offense slightly better from a fantasy perspective than Soler's, especially when you factor in that he should qualify in CF and is closer to the bigs. Can't really go wrong with either though.
  2. The problem is, they'd need some ownership behind them like Rogers to make it work I think. The only ones that might fit that bill would be Bell (TSN) who could be desperate for new sports content as they are being completely shoved out that market atm. Any other group would be taking a huge risk since if Bell ended up deciding to get rid of their sports programming, there'd be no competition for viewing rights to the games. The Jays would also have to receive a compensation package since Mtl is now part of our territory.
  3. They seem pretty similar to me (ie, below average), except for Lind somehow being a master at digging throws out of the dirt. Edwin might have slightly better range. (this is without looking up the metrics)

Good God that Penguins PP is insane. Crosby, Malkin, Kunitz, Neal, and Letang.
  5. We have to come up with an appropriate board punishment for this
  6. I think we all want Baker, but he doesn't solve the 3 man bench problem since he can't play center or short. Still want him badly though.
  7. Countdown until they find "issues" with his medicals lol
  8. Isn't he working in the Rays front office?
  9. I think it's been presumed for a while that AA will eventually take over for Beeston. I would expect that to happen when the next rebuild does, whether that's 6 months from now or 3 years.
  10. He went to the Red Sox apparently. 750k major league deal with incentives up to 6M
  11. Hmmm, hadn't been there in a long time. Thanks.
  12. B-R has better data on players in the minors, including some splits.
  13. Use Fangraphs.
  14. A best case scenario would be closer to Darwin Barney defense (he's probably not quite AT that level), which is way more than +5 UZR.
  15. I think there's a number of people who feel his bat can be respectable. He's certainly not going to be a stud offensively, but I wouldn't be at all surprised to see him put up 80-85 wRC+ or higher. He may not do it, but I think he has the ability to.
  16. Between A-Rod and a million Japanese reporters, the Yankee spring training complex is going to be a zoo...
  17. Not quite what the thread was about, though interesting to see the viewpoint regardless. But how on earth is Burnett realistically acquirable?
  18. I don't really even regret us not paying for Darvish (at least once you spread the posting fee out over the contract length). Everything had to break right for that to be worth it, and Texas is very lucky that it did. This Tanaka deal is WAY worse than the chance on Darvish was.
  19. There's no way Dickey fits the description. He still had 1 year left on his contract (which he played out last year), and we gave him an extension on top of that. Your argument was that we were paying to pick up players a year after we could have signed them on the FA market. Big difference.
  20. No. If more than something like 1M changes hands, the commissioner's office has to approve it. The rule is in place specifically to prevent this sort of thing from happening, so there is zero chance they would let it occur.
  21. Syndergaard and d'Arnaud weren't traded for someone who meets the criteria of your criticism, and Yunel wasn't a long term asset. I think Hendo, Marisnick, and Nicolino will be above replacement level, but I don't think any will be special.
  22. The Rays also got Tissenbaum thrown in. They killed it with this trade. Absolute robbery imo.
  23. Btw, love that bolded "e" in Jimenez JFaS. Wonder if anyone else noticed it
  24. I really like Jimenez, and think he's got a chance to really bust out. Best upside out of all the remaining names imo, and even if he doesn't he'll at least eat innings. I'd probably equate Garza and Burnett. Not sure what is up with Yoon, but the fact there's been so little mentioned makes me think he could come fairly cheap (which would make him a non-disaster if he had to switch to the pen). Niemann could be the bargain name of the off-season imo. Santana scares me in RC, but he is a legit arm. Capuano and Arroyo are both probably a small upgrade over the kids for next year. I'm not sure about Hanson, but his velocity is fine which makes me think he'd be a prime candidate for Walker to work with on a 2-seamer and sinker.
