  1. That looked awfully close to out at first on the initial pickoff attempt.
  2. Hurl with the kiss of death. Does this move him into Fatcow territory?
  3. This is probably where we'll be heading in baseball in the near future as they improve pitchfx and stuff: http://money.cnn.com/video/technology/2014/06/10/goal-line-technology-world-cup.cnnmoney/index.html
  4. Pretty smart of the Jays to still select him at the back of the draft. They can supposedly work him out a bit and give him a closer physical while talking to him a bit more. A few years from now that extra info may make a difference, not to mention drafting him made him really happy with the organization.
  5. Honestly in spite of how that looked in slow motion, to get the call overturned there would have to be clear evidence that the ball wouldn't have hit him before moving into it. To me it looked like it would have likely hit him either way, he just took it off the pad rather than elsewhere. Could he have avoided it if he really wanted to? Maybe, but probably not conclusively enough to overturn it.
  6. Could you afford the mask? That might explain a few things! (j/k) Looks like a decent park.
  7. Maybe they figure that with no games to get him ready, the knuckler can't mess him up...
  8. The problem isn't them going out and getting a player, it's getting a player that doesn't address their needs (unless they plan to bench Mauer or play Morales in the outfield). They've had good production from the DH position this year (better than they'd likely expect from Morales). Their center fielders and right fielders are in danger of discovering the Mendoza line.
  9. Twins could eat some of the salary to accommodate a partner that couldn't afford him otherwise. They could also maybe package him with someone else they want to dump (pelfrey, willingham, maybe even nolasco).
  10. Maybe they plan to flip him at the deadline.
  11. Are you sure? I'm pretty sure they activated him to the major league team and placed him on the DL to avoid his opt-out date.
  12. We need an adblock plus for TV I hate the political season. Seriously, tout your own plans and what you would do (assuming the plans actually make sense), but quit only putting out attack ads.
  13. I'd like to see Gose take a step or so further towards the outfield when he takes his lead at 1st. His first step on a pickoff is towards the inner part of the diamond, so he's diving toward the inner edge of the bag rather than the outer edge which makes it easier to get tagged out.
  14. Most of our guys haven't really seen Lynn before. We should see them lay off that high fastball better second time through hopefully.
  15. A bit wild the first couple batters. Defense helped him out. Looking better this inning.
  16. Yup. Good looking at bats. Didn't get the results, but we should have a good game if we have that kind of approach all day.
  17. Yeah, when you mention quick bat with advanced approach, and that scouts love his makeup though it stands out a bit.
  18. Yeah, I know we have an organizational philosophy to draft up the middle (C, SS, CF, P), but when you hear that kind of bat speed with comps to Butler with better defense, it gets your attention.
  19. I don't mind Wells. Sounds like the kind of guy you can strike gold on. Not so fond of this pick, but I don't think it's a bad one either. I just like some of the other guys on the board better.
