  1. They can only do that if there's an injury to another player.
  2. Regardless of the circumstance, there's something rather funny about a position player getting pinch run for by a pitcher.
  3. I assume they pushed Dickey back because of his injury. They just want to give him a few extra days to make sure he's 100% rather than let something linger.
  4. Someone needs to tell the baseball gods that the other teams don't need help at the moment.
  5. Hawkins had an interesting game in 1990, where he threw an 8 inning no hitter and lost 4-0.
  6. I've always thought Mills is a guy who should be moved to the pen. Decent command (at least in the minors) and a big hook, and the move should tick his velocity up a bit. Oakland is a perfect fit for him though (which I've mentioned in the past).
  7. I think Craig is extremely underrated right now (although that's likely in part due to his terrible year so far this year). It seems like a fair deal, probably shifting to your side if Craig returns to the .300 average, .850+ ops bat he should be and to GD's side if he doesn't.
  8. It's almost a case that wouldn't make sense for either team to do. Tampa could almost certainly get more in return trading them separately, and we have so much trouble getting pitchers wanting to come here that trading away two young high end potential ones doesn't make sense for us either. The only thing that would make it somewhat reasonable for our end is that we'd have control over both next year as well.
  9. Nolin is already in AAA. He can't be promoted there again to take up two spots.
  10. Can we stop reading too much into this? The Jays promoted Stroman and with roster juggling and injuries in AAA were an arm short there. That to me means two things. One, they intend to keep Stroman up with the team, and two Sanchez was the best of all the options to make that jump. If it was just for a start or two, I'd assume they would have either covered it internally or brought Walters up for a start or two in AAA.
  11. Lol, you know when SPANKY says it that you might have a problem!
  12. Took a look at him as I didn't have him on my list. Certainly putting up great numbers early, but industry comps for him are Daric Barton. Apparently the Padres think the comps are wrong, so it'll be interesting to see if he continues to mash or not. Seems like a decent gamble though, as he should at the very least put up good minor league numbers the next year or so while getting a better idea of his future (which should make him tradeable if you need to).
  13. That looked awfully close to out at first on the initial pickoff attempt.
  14. Hurl with the kiss of death. Does this move him into Fatcow territory?
  15. This is probably where we'll be heading in baseball in the near future as they improve pitchfx and stuff: http://money.cnn.com/video/technology/2014/06/10/goal-line-technology-world-cup.cnnmoney/index.html
  16. Pretty smart of the Jays to still select him at the back of the draft. They can supposedly work him out a bit and give him a closer physical while talking to him a bit more. A few years from now that extra info may make a difference, not to mention drafting him made him really happy with the organization.
  17. Honestly in spite of how that looked in slow motion, to get the call overturned there would have to be clear evidence that the ball wouldn't have hit him before moving into it. To me it looked like it would have likely hit him either way, he just took it off the pad rather than elsewhere. Could he have avoided it if he really wanted to? Maybe, but probably not conclusively enough to overturn it.
  18. Could you afford the mask? That might explain a few things! (j/k) Looks like a decent park.
  19. Maybe they figure that with no games to get him ready, the knuckler can't mess him up...
  20. The problem isn't them going out and getting a player, it's getting a player that doesn't address their needs (unless they plan to bench Mauer or play Morales in the outfield). They've had good production from the DH position this year (better than they'd likely expect from Morales). Their center fielders and right fielders are in danger of discovering the Mendoza line.
