  1. I forgot they traded for Jackson at the deadline.
  2. Don't get me wrong, I like Couture too (also had him very high in my pre-draft rankings), and in fairness to King, had Skinner pretty high also. I had Kane and Wheeler both like two or three spots ahead of them though, and obviously those guys were gone before my 3rd pick. If Kane breaks out like I think he will, I think the hits will put him over the top. Time will tell.
  3. I'm expecting Kane to really break out this season. Regardless, I've made it pretty clear that I don't expect to compete this year, and I think Kane is a better fit for me longer term. We'll see.
  4. Sorry about what? I got the guys I wanted based on what I was building (just noticed that Kane went down last night, so maybe I shouldn't laugh too much at King). Only pick I wasn't happy about was Hjalmarsson, who was a mistake (accidentally clicked on the wrong guy).
  5. I've wanted Saunders for a few years now. The injury history scares me a bit (and with AA making comments about being wary about injury history going forward, I can't see it happening), but I think he'd be a great fit. Do Gose for Saunders straight up, and give CF to Pompey.
  6. In round 2 also, ouch. So, does that mean he's damaged goods going for a penny on the dollar?
  7. Looks like Leon Draisaitl was called up by Spittin, and should be removed from his prospect list.
  8. Thought I'd remind people about this: http://fantasy.sportsnet.ca/sn/hockey14/promo
  9. They do seem like a good fit. They really need to move 2 outfielders, and they likely have an extra infielder (unless they move Gordon to SS and Guerrero in to 2nd). You have to wonder if a bigger deal might not work. Let's say Reyes + Buehrle + Navarro + Romero for Kemp + Crawford + Guerrero. I know Kemp's contract hurts (and for a long time), but short term this would really help both teams imo, and longer term Guerrero should at least help balance out Kemp a bit. We'd save about 8M in the deal next year (and could free up 7.5 more trading Lind, since one of the outfielders could move to first/dh) to hopefully sign Martin, and we'd have C - Martin 1B - Bautista 2B - Guerrero SS - Izzy? 3B - Lawrie LF - Crawford CF - Pompey / Gose RF - Kemp DH - Encarnacion Our outfield defense is probably a wash, but our infield defense improves very dramatically at SS (even if it's Izzy), 1B, and C. Offensively we also improve quite significantly. The Dodgers also improve, filling needs at SS, C, and SP while replacing Kemp with Pederson. Crawford is probably equal production wise to the platoon of Ethier + Van Slyke.
  10. Someone needs to put that owl in the crowd out of it's misery.
  11. Yeah, although Petit was stretched out heading into the playoffs. Jenkins was basically a 1 inning guy.
  12. Yeah, I'd keep those two over him also. Romo second half of the season was pretty damn good though. 10.35k/9, 7.67 k/bb, 0.85 whip, 2.89 xFIP. He should be closing somewhere.
  13. Ah, I missed that part of the question.
  14. Josh Beckett, Mike Lowell and Guillermo Mota to the Red Sox for Hanley Ramirez, Anibal Sanchez, Jesus Delgado and Harvey Garcia.
  15. Mark Teixeira and Ron Mahay to the Braves for Jarrod Saltalamacchia, Elvis Andrus, Neftali Feliz, Matt Harrison and Beau Jones?
  16. I'd be all over it if I was in the league. Good buy low opportunity. I'm protecting him on my BBDL team.
  17. Of course there's other things that could be done with possible better result. The interesting debate was about the merits of giving up three young potentially high end guys for a controllable and still relatively cheap elite player.
  18. Anyone interested in Hjalmarsson? Lots of blocks, not looking for a big return.
  19. It is an interesting question, isn't it? I think it's worth keeping in mind that those 4 arbitration years (especially the last 2) could be pretty damn expensive also (although still worth it). If we had essentially an unlimited payroll, I'd say absolutely. If they stay healthy though (big if), those three guys might be capable of putting up 10+ WAR next year, at ~3M. We saw what happened this year when we were forced to plug a bunch of holes with scrubs. In some ways, I think we might be better off having multiple above average players than one star and a bunch of scrubs (yes I realize the two choices shouldn't be mutually exclusive, but they probably are given recent history).
  20. I might have some minor interest
  21. We seriously need to get Gose a batting helmet that actually fits him.
  22. More like monthly, and the announcers daily lol
  23. Wily Peralta with 9 k's in 4 innings, only 63 pitches.
