  1. Probably about the same as Scherzer just got, except without the deferral.
  2. I really like that suggestion.

The prototype technology they're showing off during the game is really cool!
  4. Lets be honest, most of the people on this board would probably give them Beeston for free, and celebrate for a week afterwards.
  5. It's funny that almost all the leaks and sources I've seen are ones that primarily cover the O's and associated area teams. I don't know if there was any tampering or not, but the O's organization seems to be rather porous. Most of any damage caused was probably their own doing.
  6. That's one of the big benefits imo. Anyway, as much as it eliminates some of the strategy, it would also add some strategy as well. Also, it's very rare that the opposing manager would be able or willing to replace that many bats. It's not something that would be happening every game or anything. As JFaS suggested, you could reduce the warmup pitches, but many pitchers talk about BP mounds being different feel than the game mounds at times. Not sure how viable that would be in practice.
  7. I really like the idea of relief pitchers having to throw to more than one batter (I've suggested it before here). There's nothing worse than seeing innings where you get like 4 pitching changes in a row. Completely kills any kind of momentum in the game. I'd say each pitcher should have to complete 3 full at-bats, or have the inning come to an end. You can make the rule only for the regular season if you really want to. As for the shifts, definitely NOT in favor of that. I'm okay with a pitch clock, as long as it's only designed to speed up a few of the "human rain delay" guys. I think it would be interesting to experiment with added visibility on the balls, to allow batters to pick up the ball and spin a little easier. Not sure what the results would be, but it could be played with in the AFL, etc.
  8. I wonder if we're the team in the lead for Beachy?
  9. http://www.thestar.com/sports/bluejays/2014/12/07/reports_have_jays_searching_for_replacement_for_beeston.html
  10. I could see Hoffman offered up to the O's with more than DD coming our way in return (Britton maybe?). Not saying I'd be in favor of it, but it's the only way I can see any truth at all to the reports.
  11. Can we let the pitchers hit and DH for Goins instead?
  12. I don't understand why MLB teams don't just own all their MiLB affiliates. Is there something that prevents it?
  13. I think it rather unlikely at this point, but I will be curious to see just the same. Maybe the Jays even try putting him in the pen. Perhaps the reduced strain on his knees from that will help, who knows.
  14. He has a year left on his contract, I doubt he has any intention of retiring. He'll clear waivers, and it'll simply free up the spot on the 40 man.
  15. You should probably clarify that for next year. Imo, the contracts should be counted as the max possible amount the player can get.
  16. IMO Sanchez easily, but then I also think that Sanchez will be fine in the rotation next year, unlike a lot of others. I would still be in favor of Johan though, and move Sanchez to the pen for a year. We really need the help in the pen.

    This is pretty funny: http://www.cnn.com/videos/sports/2015/01/14/worldsport-hockey-player-hits-himself.cnn?iid=ob_article_organicsidebar_expansion&iref=obnetwork
  18. Then for some reason he thought we'd want to share in it.
  19. If they're paying him over 200M for 7 years (with significant deferrals, which could make it a LOT worse) as the latest report suggests, then I'd take issue with the smart part...
  20. Holy crap at 24 goals from jays_fever
  21. I wish we could get someone in advertising to give us some answers about exactly how it works. It's an important distinction for sure.
  22. I'd imagine the tv viewership would be through the roof for Sportsnet. That would have to add a ton.
  23. This is pretty much my feeling as well.
  24. Halladay getting injured (and more importantly his illness) and retiring was sad for us... He almost certainly would have been a Jay (on the field) right now, and with the shape he kept himself in, probably still elite.
  25. The Jays have stated in the past that they won't negotiate after the numbers are exchanged, if I'm not mistaken, unless it's a multiyear deal.
