  1. Sanchez had 100 in the minors and 33 in the majors. Norris added 6 more in the majors as well.
  2. The value would be keeping them in the minors and stretched out in case of injuries. That's probably more valuable than the likely very marginal upgrade they might provide over Drabek in the pen.
  3. I would have liked to see how Drabek would do in relief.
  4. I really don't want to see Hutch diving for balls in spring training ...
  5. "The three is the key" ... is that like "the bird is the word"?
  6. The reports on Travis have been good bat, questionable defense I believe. There doesn't seem to be any reason to believe he won't hit, so if he's made improvements in the defense, he should have a good year. It'll be interesting to see how he handles the turf in Montreal though.
  7. Everyone knows Rogers doesn't really pay market rates to the Jays for the broadcasting and stuff, not to mention all the other promotional stuff. They wouldn't be maintaining our payroll at the current levels if they really were losing that kind of money.
  8. Plus Inciarte put up 2.8 WAR last year in about 3/4 of a season, but he didn't hit for power etc and can actually run down balls, so the D-Backs are probably ready to cut him
  9. I think so, both offensively and defensively. In a lot of ways I'd kind of prefer just keeping Navarro for the year, but if we do something stupid like keep Thole around anyway, then we might as well get a piece that can actually help us rather than clog up the bench with catchers.
  10. Navarro for Inciarte, we pay salary difference? He'd be a great 4th outfielder / bench weapon. Basically a lefty version of Rajai Davis with great defense.
  11. There's no downside to setting your lineup.
  12. Just for King (couldn't resist): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EnIDfneBstU
  13. King having those two defensemen sit is a real killer for him. Who has the tiebreak in that matchup anyway?
  14. Does the waiver wire priority reset each year, or is it carried forward?
  15. This is ugly
  16. This was interesting from a Sportsnet article. http://www.sportsnet.ca/blogs/blue-jays-rundown/the-good-and-bad-from-blue-jays-vs-red-sox/
  17. I'm not so sure Van Slyke would be exposed. His numbers vs R/L in the minors were pretty much identical, and they aren't significantly different in the majors. I kind of feel like he just needs to be given a chance to play. Guerrero doesn't have a great defensive reputation and he does have an out clause, but he also wants to play. I kind of feel like he'd probably waive that as part of the trade if he was told he'd have a starting role wherever he went. Based on the money left on his contract, I don't think he's require a big return either.
  18. Considering the heavy ground ball numbers, and the fact Pompey has some serious wheels, I wonder if the Jays would consider going with 5 infielders when he pitches?
  19. They'd probably be looking for higher end lower minors guys anyway, since they are ridiculously stacked at the big league level right now. Likely wouldn't create a hole.
  20. I figured you were reading Andy Capp cartoons to try to better understand Spanky and TCA...
  21. The best thing that could happen to my fantasy teams is Craig, Guerrero, and Ethier all getting traded before opening day.
  22. He sure is. Snag him and Van Slyke (who would be an above average 1st baseman by the looks of it, and could back up all 3 outfield spots as well)
  23. I think the best example might be the ultimate sinkerballer Derek Lowe. He had lower K rates (I actually think Sanchez will strike out more batters than Lowe), and as a starter the seasons where Lowe struggled were the ones where his walk rate approached or exceeded 3. When it was close to 2, he did quite well (mid 3's xFIP and ERA). Good command of a pitch designed to be hit is so incredibly important.
