That's true, but then you could argue that he'd be better signing a 3 or 4 year deal (maybe sacrificing $10M for the guarantee of $120M), THEN going year to year after. If he suffered an injury, it could take him 2 years to get back to the earning potential he had before. I don't know, it'll be interesting to see. As I said, I like the idea better for a batter.
