Not sure I like this trade, however we do need some starting depth, had a log jam, and at least Thornton comes with some upside possibility. A funky delivery with high spin rate could make him interesting in relief later on too.

I like the logo, especially on the hats. Not sure about the uniforms, but they are a huge improvement over the current ones.

Yeah, Sale was excellent too. Like I said, I'm okay with it but probably would have voted for Verlander myself.

Man, Siakam has some crazy ability to make impossible shots.

I'm okay with it. There were basically 7 worthy candidates, all of whom were spread in xFIP by less than 0.25 points. Verlander probably should have won it based on his ratios and innings, but I don't feel like there was a wrong choice.

Maybe, I'm really tired. I mean, we could probably trade him for a Homer Bailey type too, but honestly I'd rather Tulo in that exchange.

Probably just as well that JV is starting (not that Ibaka isn't available). Drummond really is the kind of guy you want JV in there to try and counter. Drummond would kill Ibaka with the rebounding.

They both have basically one year deals at approximately the same money. Scaled to roughly full time usage, they both have similar WAR projections. The Dodgers need a catcher, and one with lots of playoff experience would be a huge benefit. They probably need to do something with a starting pitcher this offseason. I guess the question is, did they offer him arbitration because they thought he'd decline, or did they offer it because they really want him at that price?
