They both have basically one year deals at approximately the same money. Scaled to roughly full time usage, they both have similar WAR projections. The Dodgers need a catcher, and one with lots of playoff experience would be a huge benefit. They probably need to do something with a starting pitcher this offseason. I guess the question is, did they offer him arbitration because they thought he'd decline, or did they offer it because they really want him at that price?
