He really hasn't gotten much of a chance versus lefties since the Dodgers use platoons so much, so he might be able to improve that somewhat. He definitely is a bit streaky. When you look at the numbers though, you're talking about a guy who has put up 3.1 WAR, 3.6 WAR, 0.6 WAR, and 2.7 WAR in strong side platoon playing time. He's drastically cut down on the strikeouts (19.2% last year), has a great walk rate, power, and plays probably slightly above average defense if he's not in CF. With the Dodgers now having Kiki, I could see a Giles for Joc swap not being unreasonable. Trade Pillar, move Grichuk to CF, Joc to RF.
