  1. Interesting. 90mph fastball as a starter, forkball, slider. Has experience both in the pen and as a starter. He could make a nice partner for Font.
  2. No, but I see it now. Excellent!
  3. The article is kinda crap. They basically ignore reports of potential higher offers because it doesn't fit in with their narrative.
  4. Bumgarner hasn't been elite the last two years, but I'd happily take him at that price. He's probably a #3 starter who eats innings. Lots of value in that.
  5. Kluber wasn't exactly stellar in his starts prior to the broken arm, and then had some other injuries after while rehabbing. He's also 34 this year. It's certainly possible they know something we don't. That said, I think they got fleeced too. I was just trying to find some justification from their end. Maybe they'll even try to start Clase.
  6. I assume this is all about Clase. They must feel like Kluber won't regain his form. Maybe they've spotted something with Deshields and think they can fix him. Who knows. I don't think we have an equivalent pitcher to Clase, but Teoscar probably beats out Deshields.
  7. Yeah, he certainly has the potential. He also went firmly in the wrong direction last year. I don't think Boston moves him in that type of deal, but I'm also not sure he's worth the difference to the Jays to take on Price's salary. You're putting a lot of money on the line to hope for a sustained breakout.
  8. I think we all need to send him 10 nonsense trades as punishment. The ban isn't necessary.
  9. I'm not sure what to say to that. Price is probably worth 20M / year for the next three years on the open market. Are the three arbitration years for Benintendi worth 36M + salary? I actually think they might not be. I wouldn't rage in the streets or anything - in fact, I'd probably be happy about the upgrade - but I'm not sure we'd be getting the value for our money. Ozuna + Bumgarner might be pretty similar in cost per year, and almost certainly would outperform Price and Benintendi.
  10. Just as a guess, they're probably receiving more of the revenue cut that they produce for the media division.
  11. I love watching knuckleballers.
  12. He started hitting a lot more balls in the air, and he doesn't have the power for that. When he first came up, he was killing worms and beating them out. If he can get back to that while keeping his improved walk rate the last few years (plus sitting him versus tough lefties), you might get him to 75 or 80 wRC+. Combined with his defense, that would actually have value. Like I said though, with a non-swing-and-miss staff, that defense may be worth a lot more for us than it would be for other teams.
  13. I wouldn't mind us signing Billy Hamilton (under the condition that he start pounding the ball into the ground again). We're going to have a lot of balls in play next year. Having a truly elite defender out there would likely be beneficial, even if he sucks at the plate.
  14. I feel better signing someone like him with our catching situation this year. He may be boring, but we'll get the most possible out of boring.
  15. Gasol is pumped!
  16. Definitely disappointing if we really were interested in him. We're getting tagged as being interested in just about everyone though, so it's entirely possible our interest was completely fabricated.
  17. I think I suggested it a few days ago. I like him as a target.
  18. I'll say this. There have been some good, recent pitchers who haven't been able to handle pitching in Yankee Stadium. They had better hope to hell Cole isn't one of them.
  19. They can't afford them. They probably have to trade Happ along with a prospect just to afford Cole.
  20. Wow. I wanted Cole, but that is ... risky.
  21. I wonder what the Mets want for Nimmo?
  22. Meh. Just give Rowdy the day off and put Edwin at 1st. The overall benefit almost certainly outweighs the negative.
  23. I'll take upgrades wherever we can get them. I'd prefer keeping the DH spot open, but if it means adding a 30 home run guy who gets on base as opposed to a Pillar type bat, I'll gladly take Edwin.
  24. It feels like Mazara was always expected to be so good. He's now produced less than 2 WAR over 4 full seasons. Texas is probably wise to try to capitalize on him.
