  1. There's still some pretty interesting bullpen guys out there who should come at a reasonable price, along with some intriguing wildcards. Will Harris, McHugh (if the elbow is okay), Kintzler, Rondon, Cingrani all seem like pretty good targets. Guys with worse peripherals but consistently good results include relievers like Cishek and Buchter. Wildcard guys include relievers like Cody Allen (who, reading between the lines, is on a driveline/weighted ball program this offseason) and Holland. I'm sure I'm missing some. I like our offseason so far, but we still need to fill a few holes.
  2. I forgot he had gotten that large a signing bonus. Still, I think it's a smart decision. The only way he realistically loses much is if he becomes a star, in which case his next contract is going to be massive anyway. Raise the floor early, go for ceiling later imo.
  3. I disagree that it's a bad deal for him. He's giving up some potential earnings in order to set himself up for life. If he does become a superstar, he's still going to get paid a crap load when he becomes a free agent. If he crashes and burns, he can retire before he's even 30. IMO, more prospects should be looking to do this type of deal.
  4. Why can't you get a VISA for it? I'm just curious, because I don't really know how the process works.
  5. WTF is going on in this Heat/76ers game? Insane final minute here.
  6. Wouldn't we lose our 2nd round pick and 500k bonus pool? Also, didn't Ryu get a qualifying offer last year, not this year?
  7. What are you guys talking about?
  8. I don't know who in the front office is finding these guys, but they need a raise. I don't even know how much they make, but they still need a raise.
  9. I'd love to get an upgrade at 1B if people are selling.
  10. Castellanos did improve his defense quite a bit last year, which was his second as an outfielder. I wonder if there's still room for further improvement?
  11. The multiple instances of extremely reckless driving, for starters (although that was a number of years ago). Flipping off fans probably wouldn't go over well either. I'd be okay with a one year deal, but I think an extended one is playing with fire unless there's something in his contract that lets us terminate him for bad behaviour without paying salary.
  12. Puig seems like a potential walking PR disaster to me. I'd be fine with it on a short term deal though.
  13. Someone should ask her how many people she had to sleep with to get her job. If she's going to ask somewhat offensive questions of others, it seems only fair to return the favour.
  14. I'd be fine with 13 to 14 AAV for Castellanos.
  15. They've been spending on the Raps and Leafs (combined with Bell). You have to think it's been paying off for them. They probably realize it's important to their future to have this kind of in-demand content, especially with more and more people moving to digital subscriptions for things.
  16. Abom works in mysterious ways.
  17. Excellent walk and K rates, and last year he was 7th in the league in hard hit percentage. Other guys around him? Harper, Donaldson, Bellinger, Goldy, Springer, Alonso, Trout ... actually, pretty much everyone who is really good, aside from, inexplicably, Odor. Worse case, you likely get a 2 to 2.5 WAR outfielder. The upside is far greater.
  18. This is interesting: https://bleacherreport.com/articles/2868278-report-lakers-jeanie-buss-refused-kawhi-leonards-uncles-illegal-requests?utm_source=cnn.com&utm_campaign=editorial&utm_medium=referral
  19. I think he's a perfect target, but everyone seems to be staying away for some reason. There must be something we don't know.
  20. Or the Rangers. He'd fit right in.
  21. Good game, aside from the refs. To play like that against a playoff team, on the road, with the injuries we have is really quite impressive.
  22. WTF is up with the refs tonight? Man, Nurse is NOT going to get through this game without being ejected.
  23. I think he has the talent to be a solid everyday player if given the chance.
  24. Yeah, for sure. I think it would make sense for everyone concerned though. It'll be interesting. I get the feeling there's some dominoes yet to fall. Rogers probably isn't happy with the drop in ratings, and if the path is there to be fairly competitive without changing the plan for the future ...
