  1. The Jays will probably sign everyone else first, then offer whatever is left without giving up a pick as a take it or leave it offer.
  2. I don't. The US just recorded their highest infection day (I think).
  3. I took Nick Yorke and Edward Olivares. Goldbull is up. I'm also full.
  4. Maybe not Bauer so much for the big FA contract. He wants to go year-to-year anyway.
  5. Only the actual games would need to be played in the main MLB appropriate park. I agree that it's highly questionable as to how well it would work though, especially if you try to give all teams equal time in the various game time slots.
  6. Kinda looks like a big BBQ. I guess that fits for Texas.
  7. One good thing is if the players do file a grievance, all the agreements will be out in the open (or at least will be ruled on by an independent party). We'll see exactly who is acting in good faith and who isn't.
  8. IMO the PLAYERS should be allowed to sell one small patch space (if not on the uniform, then maybe on the glove or bat). Let the club sell space on the base bags or something.
  9. I could have done without Gooch's +4 and whatever the hell Mcllroy was doing out there.
  10. I'm on the side of shutting it down this year. Prepare for a full season next year. Both the players and owners can go f*** themselves.
  11. Good thing no one took you up on it.
  12. IMO, buy pitching, develop bats.
  13. I feel like the best thing they could do is just write off the season, and spend the time negotiating a new CBA right now. There's pretty much a 100% chance at least SOME players will come down with COVID while playing, and that's just going to cause a giant mess. Figure out the upcoming labour issues right now so we don't have the possibility of another stoppage in the '21 offseason, which combined with this, would be catastrophic.
  14. I'm guessing if baseball is proposing 50 games, they probably want to start the playoffs at the start of September (maybe even a week or two earlier) and try to get through most of it before a second wave of the virus. I'm just looking at ways of reducing the luck factor in a drastically shortened season. Maybe it's not necessary. Maybe the luck will make it more exciting.
  15. No matter what they do, it's going to be different. If they're using extended rosters, the reliever run will be real anyway. Doubling the games at least helps reduce the luck factor a bit.
  16. What would people's thoughts be on playing two 5 inning games a day for 100 total games?
  17. That's actually pretty clever. I don't understand why people would pay for it, but I'm sure they will.
  18. The NHL and NBA don't think they can start on time because of the extended time required for the playoffs. They could still likely get in all the games. They've done compressed schedules in Olympic years in the past, and could simply run it an extra month into the summer next year. I would assume we'll hear of something similar to MLB happening with the NFL if they have to play in front of empty seats. They aren't going to open contentious talks about it until it becomes an absolute.
  19. Well, let's see here. 1/3 of MLB revenue is ticket sales. MLB is proposing 80 games (I think). So percentage-wise, you should be looking at players receiving 1/3 of their normal, full-season salary. Players have already received some of their 2020 pay in the deal struck before. IMO, the only real issue is the higher scaling percentage for highly-paid players. Players in the lower end are probably getting paid more in the deal.
  20. He's fine as long as he isn't trying to fantasy draft dead people.
  21. I wouldn't put much stock in the defensive projections for someone who played in 33 games at the majors last year, most of which were at a position he had basically never played before.
  22. That would be nice, but Tampa would probably want offers starting with Vladdy/Bichette and Pearson. I'd rather develop some top talent and fill in the holes via FA rather than trade.
