Yeah. Seems weird to allow the Pirates but not another team with exactly the same risk factors. I wonder if some places will even allow the Jays to play their home games in the away parks, or will cite the same thing?
No kidding. On the plus side, at least we get him while he's young, cheap, and healthy. If he balloons like Prince Fielder, then don't extend him and let some other team get the albatross contract
It's 30 games, some of which were probably day games anyway. I like the idea of Pittsburgh better, but the lighting issue seems silly. The clubhouses are more of an problem.
It's right at the end of ST before they head to TB and WAS. It would be much more questionable if they were heading back to Rogers Centre immediately after the two games. It probably would have been wise to have an off day between the Nats series though to accommodate any extra travel requirements.
The Jays should do something like that in the 500 level for expected low attendance games (once we're done with the pandemic, or it's done with us). They could use it to support Jays Care or something.
I think it's interesting for people in general to point at baseball as having an issue with only 8% black players (~12% of people in the USA are black I believe), but basketball with only 20% white players is perfectly fine.
I agree with his other points though. I feel like we're going to see quite a few more players bail on the season as soon as the first clubhouse infections make their rounds, and I don't blame them at all.
