  1. Peralta probably won't throw one in the zone. JPA should be red light here
  2. gets squeezed on the first two then gets two calls. Nice command though
  3. Canadian Rays Fan Club (formerly CDRFC) a mock fan club that my friends and I started up to mock Chuck LaMar's moves, turns out he sent us tickets to a game. Now it's not a mocking thing, I legitimately love this Rays team.
  4. He's not a guy that was expected to move fast. One level a year for the next couple years at least. Oddly enough right as we are seeing his bat look good, there are reports of misplayed balls and bad reads. Would like to see him in Vancouver where there are people I know who can give direct reports on his progress.
  5. I completely understand where he's coming from, he spent an entire off season saying he wants to sign an extension with the Reds, they tell him that they can't free up the money. The whole time he's working on a team friendly deal, they are working with Votto extending him on an open market deal. It's pretty shady dealing. He was a man of his word and signed the deal he was willing to sign (a week after the Votto deal). I don't think he needs to talk about it in the middle of the season but this is the kind of stuff Phillips does.
  6. you are really bad at this. This was how you were supposed to troll two years ago...now this is pretty much everyone's opinion. Troll more better!
  7. looking like a good deal for the Cubs. With all the talent going back you have to wonder if Nate Schierholtz is coming back, Rangers have to think what if Cruz ends up suspended.
  8. He made people think he was a very saber friendly guy for 2.5 years. He made people think that he was doing things that other GM's weren't doing, all by saying nothing. This doesn't make him a genius...but it's pretty damn smart
  9. I don't agree with that at all. I think his biggest weakness is that he's listening to too many guys that have played the game.
  10. You think too high or too low? He was 3 on the list last year
  11. San Fran looking to trade Timmy!
  12. Not exactly sure how this is relevant (I assume about people's comments for power from a corner OF spot) anyway one year after the Cards led the NL in scoring with 747 (1985, when Herr drove in over 100) they followed it up scoring 601 coming dead last in all of the majors. Winning with speed is great if you can get the best out of the players but it's one of the hardest things to sustain, not to mention the game has changed considerably from those mid 80's years.
  13. I've learned to trust no scouting service, no anything about defense so we shouldn't automatically say he can't play CF, in the 15 to 20 games I watched Pillar now I can't get a serious read on his D. I do know that from the very first game I watched him I was surprised by his swing. When drafted he was said to have an uppercut swing, but he's got a great compact swing. He's not big at all and is 100% effort. I recently compared his bat to Jeff Keppinger and I think it's a great comp. Will hit lefties but I don't think he'll hit good righties at all. He's been hitting righties in Buffalo but in his 213 PA's in New Hampshire he hit .273/.324/.389 (MLE calculator has that kind of a line at .234/.265/.310 in Toronto) line against righties while absolutely killing lefties. As with most max effort guys, that's probably his ceiling. The question is would you want Keppinger on your team if he's playing a corner OF? In the end he puts balls in play and I really believe he'll hit lefties at all levels. He'll get his chance at some point but why the rush for everyone? Sierra is out of options next year so he'll be put on waivers and Rajai is an FA next year. Pillar might move up two spots on the depth chart. I'd like to see him in the Rajai role next year but it probably still depends on what the team does. Only way I add Pillar to the 40 man this year is if Melky gets a suspension or trades are made. He gets a chance to earn his 4th OF spot next year in Spring, he's at 100 PA's in Buffalo let him develop a little.
  14. The bad thing about Jimenez is that he's burned one option already, he'll certainly burn one more next year, which is also when he'll probably get his first look at the majors (by September as a worst case scenario). It probably gives him 2015 to prove he can stick in the majors. Not a great scenario for him unless he tears apart the minors and also hits in his MLB opportunities. A guy like Yan Gomes is putting up 1.3 fWAR through 140 AB's, to say that Jimenez is a non factor is a mistake, people get too wrapped up in upside sometimes, Jimenez doesn't have much but he can be steady. Doubt he'll ever get a chance in Toronto though.
  15. This is Hamilton and Rosenhaus, what they say truly doesn't matter. True Indians baseball fans care what they say as much as we care about Buck and Tabby (so they choose not to felate players and managers on other teams). Only thing I didn't like from this was that they were making direct quotes and then using "They", have some balls and name the people
  16. and if gets hurt again next week and misses the rest of the season...would we even make a qualifying offer?
  17. I could use an OF who isn't hurt. If anyone wants to deal an OF with a little less upside but playing and playing well for a Revere or Upton I'd certainly consider it.
  18. While I agree that relievers are a position of strength and probably should be dealt, I don't think it will happen. They are still looking at 2014 and obviously volatility of relievers means nothing to them. I think there is a better chance they sell low on someone. Bonifacio is the one that makes the most sense. Take a B or C prospect from someone that values his versatility and speed.
  19. Cutch was number 3 last year, I see no reason why he'd drop below Harvey, Stanton or Machado. I'm guessing it will be: Trout Harper Cutch Machado Longoria, They tend not to include pitchers too high (Strasburg was the highest at 8 last year), I'd expect that Kipnis jumps up from 25 to top 10. Posey has a big long contract but he should be top 10. Probably Harvey, Strasburg and Stanton end up at 6, 7, 8.
  20. yeah you'd have to think so. I'm intrigued to know where they put Chris Davis.
  21. Interesting to see Bautista drop to here. While we know this has nothing to do with what someone will actually bring in a trade, it should make those people who are saying "We'd need more than just Profar for Joey Bats" think that maybe it's not enough for Profar as I think his name will still come up.
