    No experience in the game so the players shouldn't respect him, yet they appear to. Meanwhile he probably fits best into the "never played the game so he has no clue" category. Of course he listens to guys that played the game for 100 years so that must help his Lind Cred

    This ******** you have to have played the game to know the game is f***ing embarrassing. You've got a manager that has 57 MLB PA's, a hitting coach that had no more than a cup of coffee in the bigs. You've got a GM that never played a professional game. These kinds of statements are undermining each of these people's ability to analyse baseball you f***ing idiot! And people think this board is bad on people that have differing opinions.

    If injuries slow his defense, which the way he plays is very possible, he'll have to hit more to pull his weight. He will not survive in this league with his current approach (both in the field and his approach at the plate)

    the baseball central back handed slaps were amazing just now. Zaun saying "I'd be frustrated too if I were hitting that badly" then Hayhurst saying I talked to him today and he asked me to point out the positive like his RBI"s in relation to the rest of the catchers.

    Everything Zaun and Hayhurst said makes JPA look worse. It's the perfect storm if just a teammate chastises JPA now. Come on MDR do your babysitting job, and help turn the casuals against him.

    I think several teams will buy cap space to land him. Might be smart to be selling cap space (too late for the Jays)

    Papi should shut the f*** up too. This is so NBA with the players trying to make GM decisions (or at least influencing public perception). I like Ortiz but this brings him really far down in my book.

    Time to get back on subject...jokes about JPA. If Melky, Zaun or hayhurst decided to throw a punch at him, he'd have a 5% chance of blocking the punch

    worst thing JP did here was speak for the entire team, if anyone on the team doesn't feel the same way as him he threw them under the bus. What he does for his own PR is fine he can handle that...but don't throw teammates under the bus. This goes with something I've been saying for a while now, this team lacks IQ both on the field and off.

    Haven't read this thread and I apologize if this has already been said...this is the best thing that has ever happened to this team. Anything which might put JPA in a bad light in the media and public eye puts him one step closer to being moved from his starting role.

    Can one rip Morrow's injury history and suggest Marcum all in the same sentence that must be some kind of a violation??? Marcum has been injured for 395 days since 2009 including missing 35 days this year and has an MRI for his back scheduled for this week.

    at the half way point I won't even argue (although he won't be triple crown) he's been the best hitter in baseball by far. The OP did say Long term and I don't see Miggy being the same player at 35 as he is right now and Harper and Trout still won't be reaching their prime. It won't surprise me if one of those two puts up a 12 win season. Harper's 21 year old season was on pace to be much better than Miggy's great 21 year old season just based on offense alone...and we all know how great Trout's age 21 season was.

    AA knew damn well that Romero could be viewed as a 5th starter at best. He was arrogant enough to the think that Happ was enough depth.

    Making tough PR choices is probably the hardest thing a GM has to do, but bad baseball moves are bad baseball moves. Overpaying someone for their face is only okay if you have no payroll restraints (Yankees and Jeter are a great example) if the Phillies aren't willing to sign Utley, anything other than trading him is a horrible move as you are going to get way more than the 1st round pick in return. Utley is well known to be the meanest SOB in baseball, he's not taking a pay cut cause he's the face of the Phils. I've always thought Amaro was more of a PR GM and in my opinion AA has become that too, he just has managed to avoid a face of the franchise contract running out (i don't count Halladay), hopefully he's better than Amaro As for Longoria, there were plenty of posters who ripped that signing. Personally I think it was a great one partially because TB does need to show some stability.

    I still believe that if he can stay healthy Harper at least stays even with Trout over his career. But it's going to be hard for him to stay healthy without changing how he plays. Machado has been fantastic but he's never been a great BABIP guy in the minors so to think he's going Rod Carew it out there and carry his numbers with a .370 BABIP just doesn't seem reasonable. I think the BB% will improve and he'll be a good player for his career but I don't think he'll be in the same discussion as Trout or Harper.

    I'll throw one more thing in, reporting every single post that a poster you don't like makes is not going to speed up any banning process. Going away for a weekend and coming home to 60 reported posts with over half being reported by the same person, just annoys the mods. If you've already reported a post and feel the offender is getting worse, send a PM to one of the mods.

    saving money is great but did none of this show up in his initial medical reports? This is why pre-draft medicals were put in.
