  1. I listened to a bunch of the show, they were pretty good.
  2. history doesn't show either statement to be necessarily true
  3. agreed there is not a team in the East that I would actually trust to make a run. I still think 86 is the number to chase...which is sad but still very possible.
  4. Game 4 in 1985. Last time I passionately cheered for this team.
  5. The Jays were under $20M until 1992 (13th in 1990, 18th in 1991), which was after a 7 year run of top 3 attendance figures and breaking attendance records for three years (and two playoff appearances) they doubled their payroll. There was nothing currently to justify the payroll increase and profits are not up from 2010. So when does the payroll increases end? Five years ago Fans were saying "just give us $100M and we'll compete". Now it's just give us $150M and we'll win. After that it's we need the best free agents in the world and $200M. Fans will never be happy...all we should ask is that a few actually be smart.
  6. "Me, being a little pissed off that the man who has been in charge of stopping the Blue Jays from landing numerous players via free agency and trades these past few years was basking in the glory of his team, while pretending that all was fine, decided to do a little bit of trolling" This is exactly what Gibbers talked about after the trades, fans would soon forget about the increases. Last three years it's $13M, $36M and $18M. That's a jump of 94% increase in 3 years and $66M which is only topped by the Dodgers and Nationals.
  7. I'm currently in 17th place and I'm not sending messages through second rate fantasy bloggers to Boxy...a real contender would be targeting the Darrell's.
  8. I have concerns about Cingrani throwing nothing but fastballs.
  9. My team is a fringe contender in a 20 team Dynasty league and i just traded Gallo and Sano for EE, did I do well? Boxy Sux!
  10. Dibs on a chair. For the the record I was just letting people know, although I had concerns that you all would miss my expert commentary throughout. . I'd always have a back up plan (not to mention I pick 30th at best which could be a good 4 days in).
  11. I am going to be out of the country for the start of the minor league draft, with limited internet access.
  12. .. no one wants to hear that this stadium is one of the biggest home run parks in baseball.
  13. One of the best in history. Jays only got Romero which isn't as bad as the Cubs, M's and Astros.
  14. so I should bet a 3 team parlay of Yanks, O's and Jays? Not saying you are wrong often but...
  15. How is a Bleacher Report link worthy of a banning but DJF isn't? Mocking Stoeten is allowed but links without some negativity is ban worthy
  16. It's a great sign for the Jays. it's a clash to what they have taught through the org previously and that can be met with resistance. He's won over the org from that sounds of it. Makes you wonder how bad it was that they didn't even change their approach from AB to AB.
  17. Having met several of the Rays last year, I can tell you that there is a right way to respond to every situation (they stopped a group from getting kicked out the bar, for a guy puking, just because 2 guys in the group had Rays gear on). For all he knows Adam is a blogger about the Jays (which he is, although not active). He's probably best completing his sentence at least. The job could be his next year and yes hitting will endear him to the fans more than anything...but being nice to fans should be much easier for him than hitting well. Seriously, how many people on this board thinks that Rios is a big *******? All because of one incident. When that happened the girls from the old board posted all these things that he did for the fans. None of that matters cause struggling at the plate and having one bad incident can ruin a players rep. Being a fan favourite (ie. Lawrie) also buys you several future incidents.
  18. Give him two more seasons and he passes Cobb in career K's too...that will be the last time the two get mentioned in the same sentence. What I read into that is he really doesn't want to be here. 1. He's going to a bar alone during a big winning streak. 2. He's not thinking about his PR in the city that controls his major league life for the next 5 years. Players have bad days (Rios' one bad day cost him playing here as he was one of the most fan friendly guys prior to that incident) but I'll read something more into this. Good chance I'm wrong...but it won't stop me from speculating it's part of the fun of baseball ... and I never believe I'm wrong.
  19. So I just had this Gose story sent to me from a friend. I'll just cut and paste (leaving out my commentary). Not the best PR from a guy on a team on a winning streak. There is a lot you can read into the story though. we go out to underground afterwards gose shows up alone no one recognizes him or says s*** after about 20 mins i go up and i'm like hey man sweet can i get a selfie he just bluntly says no...and only no. not like....sorry man not feeling it or sorry don't wanna be bothered just plainly no i feel like he may have gotten pranked by someone on the team like some guys said they'd go to underground then went somewhere else and he was just left sitting there but either way be a pro when mark was down in dunedin in 2013 they asked him for an autograph and he said no then too well if he's smart he'll figure it all out we're unlikely to extend rasmus he is probably our guy next year and for the next few years
  20. It's funny how the whole thing started was me mis-wording my statement. Someone posted that the Jays just traded a future closer and instead of saying if he ever becomes a closer....I wrote "if he ever gets a save"...and you know the rest. Good chance that Tiny Tim is closing in Omaha this year the way he is pitching.
  21. Translation, there are a small amount of people that formulate their thoughts in an intelligent way I don't even think he's the worst in baseball right now. You are more likely to hear this from the supposed diehards during a losing streak than the group you are singling out. Most predicted this team to be a .500 team. Mostly the analytic crowd but they at least could explain their reasoning. Personally I thought trading for him in the first place was a huge mistake. Paint everyone with one brush much? I don't like AA, I'd like for the sake of the Jays he not be here...but I'm realistic in knowing that he's here for a bit now. There are some people on this board that could build a great organization...but they would make horrible GM's. Define enjoy?
  22. with whatever it was that ZIPS did differently when projecting Tanaka's numbers. One must wonder what others in Japan are projected at by them.
  23. He's a terrible writer...but he is one of those BR guys that knows what he's talking about at times. They keep hiring guys that wrote solid stuff at other blogs (or in Joe's case was solid on ESPN radio) and then I and so many others stop reading them because they go to Bleacher. Eventually got to figure they will end up being quotable.
  24. York Mills? If that is where you go I know several of your teachers
