  1. I've posted about Drabek a couple times this week. If they aren't going to give him a start, then move him to the pen. He's walked 10 in his last 46 innings. Even with K's down it's still a 3 to 1 K to BB ratio.
  2. These days usually teams only insure $100M+ contracts. I'll see if I can find the link of a great article on the costs of it and what gets paid out (it's not as much as you'd think)
  3. a nice cocktail of red bulls and cocaine goes a long way to fighting pain.
  4. He's got Drabek sitting down in Buffalo hardly walking anyone. Three straight bad outings in April are hurting his numbers. (8 BB in his last 41 innings, k's are down with just 29 k's though). He's out of options next year and they obviously aren't considering him for a starting role so why not bring him up and let him throw as hard as he wants in the pen. We have depth...f*** the Bobby Korecky's of the world use your starter depth in the pen.
  5. It's not all mods it's just me. If you think someone is a troll from the old board and you quote them...you have violated my one and only rule. Since most don't know my rule, these were unofficial warnings. It's a 24 hour time out after your first official warning (which will be in PM). It's troll training by Hurl. We got the 15 reported posts and what the guy sent to King would get even a mod banned. Don't engage
  6. why not try Drabek out of the pen in the bigs? He's hardly walking anyone (he had a bad 3 game stretch early in the season) and it doesn't look like they are going to give him a look at starter without a huge rash of injuries. Let him throw max effort.
  7. EE, Francisco, Buehrle and Tolleson all playing in ways they couldn't keep up. Someone else needs to step up cause only EE might go on a run like that again.
  8. as much as the Jays are playing like the .500 team they are...who in the division do you feel confident will walk away with it? .500 keeps them in it.
  9. honestly I thought the whole league could have had a moment of silence (maybe they did but I work 12 hours a day and don't see s*** anymore)
  10. You fight trolls by ignoring trolls. I know it's tough some time but it's the way to do it. I have started to hand out warnings to people to people who respond to someone accusing them of being one of the trolls from the old board. The accusations are ruining threads as much as trolls do. If you think it's a troll report and say why. If you respond you are in direct violation of my personal rules which I just came up with a couple of days ago. 1 warning then ban.
  11. I kind of like him...and one of the things this board is missing is trolls from other teams. Other than the Friedman Fappers of course as we don't count.
  12. I got into an Altuve debate in my 5x5 league where they were asking for an elite bat in return for a non keepable Altuve. The difference between the top 15 2B for the ROS is pretty minimal by ZIPS in the counting stats except for SB's. Over 300 PA's La Stella comes out to 32 runs, 32 RBI's, 5 SB, 5 HR. I know we are discussing dynasty here but in most pools a guy like Altuve you pay a premium for 1 maybe 2 stats.
  13. He should have got the warranty. Who knew the magic wore off after a year. Stupid magic balls.
  14. Why does every team have pre-draft deals except for the Jays (with the exception of their $10K Senior guys)?
  15. Damn those teams that want value in return. Why can't they just take poor project-able 23 year olds in A Ball that are putting up sweet numbers?
  16. my favourite player by far and provided me with a great baseball moment during the 1989 all star game HR contest batting practice. As I've told many times Cal Ripken walked away from signing autographs with a like 8 year old right at the front waiting patiently. Cal walked away Gwynn saw it and signed for the kid (and about 50 others). Gwynn faced Greg Maddux 107 times and never struck out. Nolan Ryan got him 9 times 4 others 6 times. It's unreal how good his hands were. RIP
  17. Herrera I think was a victim of people assuming he was already taken. He was a discussion of debate regarding our AA rule and I just personally overlooked him thinking he was taken. I think some others might have made their lists while he was struggling with the bat (hitting .386 in June can turn around numbers fast). For me Choi is a powerless 1B in an org that just wants power. He also can't hit lefties...it's odd he just watches every pitch a lefty throws at him (at least in the games I've watched. So he'll sit around the PCL until he's 25. There was no way I was taking a pitcher with my first pick...Thorpe was gone by the time I picked again. Odd decision by the Twins to hold him back in extended spring training and then end up putting him on a full season squad. His progression will be interesting to watch.

Greatest coach and organization (I tend not to give Buford full credit as I think Popovich deep down is still GM too...at a minimum they are an amazing team) in basketball history. Not a top 25 pick since Timmy, no major FA signings, no block buster trades. Just amazing.
