  1. I have started to issue warnings to everyday posters for replying to obvious trolls. They know the consequences...so report those people or just send me a message. it might take 10 hours but they will get the point. Also it's been a long time since someone spammed the board with 100's of posts in a day. There is the other ignore feature...just move on and don't let it bother you.
  2. I've never understood the soccer/football is boring argument. At least I understand it when people that don't understand baseball say it.
  3. It's the weekend man. Report, use your ignore button, report those that quote him after it's known that's it is a troll. As much as trolls suck...they aren't that hard to ignore.
  4. what if you and I banned at the same time and it cause a glitch that made him mod. Him and Wilnercibia were both the same IP
  5. all you missed is getting asked if ECJF smelled like puke...and getting kissed on the forehead for showing up. It was good to get there even if I had to drive home and couldn't drink.
  6. As for this board. I still like the board, I like reading certain things, but the off season, draft (much less so this year because of my lack of time) and trade deadline are the best seasons here. Trade deadline less so cause you still get huge over-reactions to everything. Off season it's usually pretty much good baseball conversation though and that's when the best posters for what I like to read post most. If it weren't for board fantasy pools we might lose those guys during this season, which would be a shame. Well I"m off to raking diamonds, Green and Gold Classic finals pushed back to Noon. If you are in Richmond Hill and aren't going to watch the World Cup finals drop by Richmond Green and see some 13 and 14 year old ball.
  7. Or maybe BTS got tired of a singular response of "how's the rays doing?" when he posted anything...all because he declared himself a fan of the Rays front office (as did at least two other posters who take very little heat, one because they are smart, witty and damn likable...the other because he's largely invisible around here). There were threads asking for him to not post anymore and once he didn't there was a "why is BTS so quiet" response. Lots of Jays fan posters predicted the Rays to win the East, why aren't they ripped? Outside of trade rumours it is tough to truly get much of a baseball discussion going around here.
  8. We have talked about this for years now, it's very dangerous to give Jays fans an large increase in payroll. Outside of another complete disaster last place season and a change in Management it is going to be really tough to do anything but continue to increase payroll. There are markets where it is acceptable to continually re-tool and others where you can't without adversely affect the bottom line. Mind you the Cubs are doing it and that was a market where they always said it wouldn't be acceptable. Mind you I'm sure they have plenty of fans that are saying "prospects fail all the time, we need proven major league players".
  9. maybe Karma does exist and all of you wishing injuries on other teams is what caused the Jays injuries. You all f***ed the Jays season and I hope get laid often (see that's good karma). In a side note did you see that Archer is 42nd on Nameberry's most searched boys names. I realize that it is, rightfully, influenced by the cartoon...but still pretty cool. Harper came 9th for girls names and 13th for boys.
  10. Best I can say about him is that he's not a Jays product. He fits Seitzer's style more as he'll take a lot of pitches and does a great job of fouling off pitches with 2 strikes. I await the barrage of "Can Dan Johnson stick?" threads if he starts 3 for his first 8. Or the "DFA DJ" if he goes 0 fer.
  11. so the 2013 pre-season hype didn't sell the most season tickets they have sold since 1995? It is such a fallacy that winning sells tickets, like the first place Jays team in June sold no more tickets than the last place team of June the year before. The Yankees had to make the playoffs 6 or 7 straight seasons before they became the number 1 attended team. Will the Jays being in a pennant race help with ticket sales in September...yep. But it barely makes a dent in June, July and even August. Would the Jays making the playoffs this year help with season ticket sales next year...maybe slightly but probably less than signing a star player. Baseball is so much different than other sports that have so many fewer games. I'm not saying that the Jays winning won't have some sort of positive impact on the city as I was here in the 90's when many bar had the Jays games on, even during non-Leafs playoff hockey was on. But one winning season is not going to bring back that kind of buzz. Sustained winning will. Got to start with one...I understand that but not having back up plans if the team doesn't make the playoffs and continuing to increase the payroll for minor/no improvements is a disaster ready to happen. If only someone talked about that in 2013 without being called negative.
  12. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2hquKiFlpPs
  13. I think he'd just own the guys life. Like 10 years from now Wilko can randomly show up at the guys job and just start selling fries with that. Then he can walk into the guy's house and jerk off until SH's parents catch him.
  14. Yeah cause opening the MLB to 127,000,000 Japanese has worked out poorly for the MLB.
  15. First of all the only way that AA is losing his job this year is if he attempts to re-build. If he goes for it and makes another big move it's "good effort, just couldn't get past the injuries" and as we've seen acquiring a big name helps buzz and sells tickets. If he does very little he's still got "it was a tough run of injuries, we had a lot of trades on the go (which I believe is true) but the injuries kept changing our needs and direction " and he can sell that there is more help coming up through the pipeline too. He also can do a PR trade that gets rejected by a no trade clause. Makes it look he's trying, even if he knows that deal wouldn't happen anyway. Works for the other team potentially too as it sets a market for them. Amaro has plenty of players with a no trade or are 5 and 10 guys. Is he friendly enough with Amaro to pull off this kind of a fake PR type deal? This is a cynical point of view here but it has been rumoured to happen in the past. Secondly the Jays have options without selling the farm again. They could trade an injured asset for an expensive roster improvement...most likely this would have to be a Lind because trading EE or Lawrie causes riots. Even as bad as he's been, a Lind for Billy Butler type deal would almost make sense. There is the other possibility of trading Reyes for other big contracts.
  16. Maybe I'm the odd one...I like to see good baseball players playing, regardless of the uniform. Might be the reason I can stop cheering for a team so easily.
  17. I think I got mine in 3 days when I asked.
  18. Meh promotions mean so little late in the season in the minors. Sometimes top prospects move to teams who will be in the playoffs but that's usually a move to replace an injured players. Most orgs tend to let the players that earned the playoff spot the starts. Vancouver has a much better shot at the playoffs than Lansing, let them finish up the job there.
  19. and hire Lind's Mom. At least she knows enough to suggest an MRI.
  20. In that poster's defense it's tough to fit all of AA in one photo
  21. Hey now it was just the "Greatest Jays catcher of all time". Which doesn't necessarily mean he has to even make an all star team. I still believe in TdA quite a bit. I like Pentecost too...but I believe in this curse which means 1B or bust for him.
  22. How about Dr. Beckett? High-intensity pitches are often high-stress pitches. Teams all across the major leagues don't just count pitches; they count the number of pitches a pitcher makes under duress. "The philosophy in our organization is, 'How did you get there?"' said Red Sox pitcher Josh Beckett. "When we have a 25-to-35-pitch inning, that's highly stressful for a pitcher. Our guys are very conscious of that. When you're in a highly stressful situation -- runner at second base, none out -- one pitch becomes a pitch and a half. We pay attention to that."
  23. Speak for yourself. Whether I was just jealous of his pearly whites, have a great sixth sense about these things, or just believe in the curse...I predicted JPA to be a bust from the moment he was in the high minors. My JP Atred is well documented around these parts.
  24. so obvious...it's just come on sense.
  25. Peavy to the Cards imminent
