  1. It is league specific. Under Team -- My Notification Settings
  2. Is this the year where you are going to let me quit? Seriously I'll continue to "manage" the team as long as there is not an owner but if someone knows of someone who wants in, please give them my team. The offense is awful but there are some nice pitching pieces to build off of still.
  3. He was 4th in AL Fielding Bible voting (6th overall). You could say that they probably got the AL LF pretty close to correct. http://www.fieldingbible.com/images/Vote_2021_LF.png
  4. a 17 goal week through Friday seems like it's a lot. Maybe the rest of your teams could score a bit more on Goldbull's goalies so I get the blowout I deserve.
  5. It's funny how people are talking about the post 2016 Cubs as a failure...then talk about Jays 2015, 2016 as a success. Cubs didn't live up to dynasty expectations which were never realistic. Long term free agent deals sell tickets...but they don't win you championships (very generalized statement and not 100% true but you get the point), yet every year fans complain about the lack of a big signing. George Springer can easily become similar to the deals which people are talking about for the Cubs. I really believe at maximum the Jays should look at 1 more long term deal free agent over the next 3 years. This off season is probably the time for it, and continuing to focus on reasonable extensions for the current lot. As for a stocked farm, you can restock in a few short years (Seattle and Boston were 29th and 30th in 2018 and now firmly sit in the top 10 with Seattle at number 1), the key is to have some live arms in the high minors and a couple young (and potentially tradable) high ceiling bats throughout. I don't know if this front office follows all my views, but I feel they have a good grip on what it takes to keep this team a 90 win team.
  6. That's right give give the Dusty Baker mound visit the credit for everything.
  7. As we all know as the King of the Mods (who is more now like a lieutenant governor, only making occasional appearances on special days like when the Sox are losing). I'll say end this conversation now. However, will add that you do not need to be a parent to care how women are treated. This is just a trigger statement for me...similar to those that say "did you even play ball". Now it's over!
  8. Maybe Pete Rose should try striking out 213 times.
  9. I would give up the DH forever to re-do these playoffs and not have the Red Sox vs a LaRussa or Dusty ALCS. I wish the Red Sox were from any other city cause I could like them. As much as I want to see Dusty get zero credit, I still cheer for the Astros cause if you ain't cheatin' you ain't trying.
  10. I do believe that Tampa deserves a chance to have the team in Tampa before we say it's the wrong market. The situation they have is complete s***. The fanbase is growing, their TV ratings 5 year increase is bigger than every team in baseball. It is kind of like Toronto putting a really s***** stadium in Brampton (35 minute drive in zero traffic, as much as 2 hours in rush hour). No one from Tampa would go to St. Pete's for any other reason (and most are afraid of the crime there). People can talk about the front office ruining baseball by skimping on player spending. I would be happy with them continuing their business as usual, but just pay the lease penalties (about $3M a year for many years) and build their own stadium.
  11. Lets not forget that Kay, Stripling, and Zeuch were also starting games at that point. In this case I was just saying that this poster was likely wrong in saying that keeping a starter in longer would have meant 5 extra wins earlier in the season. The starters likely would have had similar blow ups 3rd time through anyway. Last year's silly season was the first time that SP innings and RP innings were virtually equal (as were most of the numbers). If you're going to have 3 to 2 split like the Jays this year (836 to 540 or something like that) you should expect your relievers to have much better numbers than the starters (in general anyway). So I'm not defending the pen, but I just think the OP is off that keeping starters in longer would have meant more wins.
  12. My team is such a mess. I'll review in a couple weeks after my move and make some offers. Won't be taking on 2022 picks though as I've got 5 in the first two rounds.
  13. Jays starters 1st half 430 IP, 4.00 ERA, 4.45 FIP. Jays pen 1st half 329 IP, 3.97 ERA, 4.08 FIP. Not sure staying with the starters longer would have improved upon their 45-42 record. I feel like people should be rooting for health issue related retirement as the only way 2023 doesn't have Chuck is the Jays regressing.
  14. I think it's down to just me a handful that actually like the Rays now...and most have gone to full on hatred.
  15. Pi. In math, it brags about it's number of decimals...who the f*** cares about decimals. In desserts, it comes off as an alpha dessert but it's no cake. Alpha desserts are not sold on roadside stands.
  16. I thought Hutch trade was his car
  17. The guy put up 3.5 fWAR as a league average hitter. He's an elite defender and only has 2 arb years remaining. He's also available to SS in a pinch and a better than average base runner. There should be zero age regression as it's just 2 years and he costs less than 1 year of Jose Ramirez in prospect capital. If his bat returns he's likely better than Semien for those two years. We have 1 expendable MLB ready infielder available in return. Oakland loves and needs that. Which means it's probably just one prospect piece in addition to get him. Espinal and a pitching spect gets it done. If you believe Espinal is what he was this year than we don't even need to have this discussion. Spend your money or prospect capital elsewhere
  18. His splits are pretty equal over his career vs. RHP and LHP though. Only thing it doesn't address (in fact it might make it worse) is the Jays inability to hit power pitching. He also struggles against power pitchers although his career numbers are considerably better in the 7th through 9th innings
  19. What about Chapman? Oakland loves to trade their Arb guys before their last season. They lack a need at Catcher which means pitching and one of Biggio or Espinal will have to be in the deal. It replaces Semien's projections and then some (not current production) in a less expensive way which doesn't impede on Bo or Vlad's FA time.
  20. Reece McGuire is such a fit in Atlanta who could work in a semi-platoon with TdA. They have way too many relievers/young starters committed (I think only Martin and Smyly come off the books). I'd like to give Spencer Strider a shot at a bullpen role.
  21. The Dodgers being a 106 win one and done would spark some interesting new formats for the playoffs. All of which I think I will hate in concept...then love the actual intensity of the all the games. I'm actually a fan of 5 teams with just one bye to the best overall record. Second best div winner plays the 2nd wildcard team, 3rd best div winner plays the first wild card with the best record getting the home games. The winners move on to play a best of 5 in one DS. The losers play each other in a one game wild card to face the number one seed. Means only 1 team is eliminated and makes the number 1 seed a real benefit.
  22. I'm obviously cheering for the Rays...but the only other acceptable team getting out of the AL for me is the Astros. The White Sox wouldn't have sniffed the playoffs if they played in any other division. In the NL I'm good with Dodgers, Brewers or Cardinals, and won't be throwing things no matter who gets in.
  23. This was a team which over-performed from a pre-season expectation point of view but underperformed to their true talent. It sucks when 4 of the best 5 teams in League are in one division ... it sucks a lot more when your season didn't end on the field. So much could have been done to make Sunday not matter but in the end it did and just minutes from the regular seasons end it looked like there would be one more game. Let people have their moment where this just sucks!
