  1. Why does anyone think this when the actual GM is saying one?
  2. There are 130 Free Agents projected to be above replacement level. There are in turn 14 spots left on 40 man rosters. There are players among that 130 that have probably already chose retirement, but still the 2020 led roster crunch is very real. There are going to be guys dropped off the 40 man who are interesting and some other somewhat interesting players accepting minor league deals. Of note from those 14 spots 4 belong to the Braves, and 5 to Padres. Now I will always believe that the Padres will do the wrong thing, so I won't focus on them. AA did this last year too and piled up on former top prospects who had fallen out of favour. I don't think any worked out, but it will be interesting to see if they try that again, or do they go a little more Dodgers like and get players that should be starting but will be part-time players in Atlanta. Either way when I read about the Jays trading Espinal, Barger and a pitcher from the 40 man for a Jorge Polanco, I just can't see it happening. There just aren't the spots for anyone (except the Padres) to take on that kind of a trade
  3. Assuming this is a deal to waive Arb years as well
  4. Makes for some easy decisions. Fire everyone. Start over
  5. Laika is Patrick DuBuque
  6. The action truly doesn't matter, the reaction does. The behaviour of both DeShawn and Wander are terrible. The Rays and MLB gave Wander a set of rules (and a shitload of money), Wander knew the rules quite obviously and made a choice. I said the same thing when the Bauer stuff happened. Athletes need to protect themselves and make adult decisions. If you don't your livelihood is on the line. Your son is 21, he bangs the 14 year old daughter of his boss and gets arrested and fired. The he's a dumb 21 year old might actually get him away from the criminal charges. But you can't expect that boss is bringing him back. You can't expect the friends are family to laugh it off. It's going to affect your future, how people view you, and everyone that hears about it are going to judge you. In the baseball sense, those angry friends and family are now going to every job interview your son ever has, and going to cost the company money. You may be right about the different leagues having less impact from player terrible behaviour, but we know this from steroids, we know this from trash cans, we know this from every f***ing intro to big baseball game, baseball is put on an "Americas Game" pedstal and you have to understand that when you sign the contract to play the game.
  7. Just from reading the reactions you would assume they were a bottom 10 team. This wasn't the A's out there. I believe the Jays were somewhere right in around 10th in wRC+ 12 in runs scored and 14th in HR's. While repeating those numbers would certainly not be the goal it's also easiest to see what changed most for the Jays....The Rogers Centre They were 5th in wRC+ on the road. 7th in runs scored. 10th in HR's. Generally a team's road numbers are a truer showing of their true selves specifically you can look at 2 players, Vladdy and Varsho who were themselves on the road and just awful in the RC. If my memory serves me correctly VGJ was 130 wRC+ on the road with 15 HRs. Varsho was over 100 wRC+ and something like 60 in the RC. My biggest criticism of this FO has been the abandoning of the Mental Skills team and programs after Mugford left. Looks like the Jays are bringing John Lannon with the team this year instead of leaving him in Florida. If this is a mental issue at the RC. It's fixable. If it is something environmental in the RC, it's fixable. If it doesn't get fixed this year that's on the F.O. and out they go.
  8. Fans views of what the Jays offense is so skewed from reality.
  9. A lot has changed since Michael Vick. If that happened today, the social media crowd would have went after the club and league sponsors. Like it or not these kinds of moves have huge negative financial implications, and that is what cancel culture really is about
  10. I shouldn't have made the admin bat signal starting a forest fire in Thunder Bay...but we have his attention
  11. you have to subtract the deleted posts though. He's actually at 14k still.
  12. Just me unfortunately. And Juiced is a firefighter doing 12 hour shifts, along with having kids. I informed him of the issues on teh 27th and it wasn't an error he was familiar with. Got another message to him now. I'll talk with him to find out if he cares if Laika gets his contact info as well. I'm in a job where I don't get to do much personal stuff during my shift There are certainly weeks that I don't even visit the board. It sucks when it's down though. We need Admin paying attention
  13. I would be shocked if there was an impact deal before Summer
  14. and Camden has Blue Grass. Haven't really paid attention to the discussion but the O's are an interesting perception vs. projection team.
  15. Aren't they projected to be within 2 wins of the AL East now?
  16. Or Atkins really would be okay with the roster as it is.
  17. I am entertained by the numbers who don't understand Cameo
  18. Are you kidding $1500 a month for stool samples these days. https://goodnatureprogram.com/how-it-works/#:~:text=Get%20Paid%20to%20Poop.,could%20help%20potentially%20save%20lives. The one advantage is that it already comes with sides
  19. Brings a tear to the eye! Thanks CP, made my Holidays
  20. In 350 PAs out of the 2 hole he has a .360 OBP. Lock him in to the 2 hole for 162 games
  21. Iron Fist Mod BTS is the only BTS I like
  22. And what value do Martinez, Schnieder, Biggio, Barger, Horowitz, and Palmegiani have when they are not hitting (all of which have either not proven they can hit, or have shown an ability to not hit for extended periods of time)? If any of the guys show an ability to hit for more value than IKF's glove they likely get playing time. This is the exact definition of raising the floor. IKF is now the floor. The other guys have to show an ability to be better than that to get PT. The coaches (and this may be the flaw) have to use the data they have and give the people showing batting improvements the opportunities. Essentially if you are pro-internal options. You should like the IKF move. Your hatred for Varsho there is nothing I can do for you there. If you can't see what his and KKs glive has done for the Jays run prevention, than I think you should consider a different sport. Maybe a 1 on 1 sport
  23. Many here have grasped it and given pretty good explanations. He values depth, he values floor, he values value whether it comes from the bat, glove or legs. He also likely believes the offense is good enough, it needs improvements from the players
  24. And IKF would probably now be the Emergency catcher
  25. Is there a move this year left that is an "October" move? Is giving some kids a chance and maybe trading depth not a potential "October" move. This team is as good as several players making improvments will take them. If they become a 117 wRC+ team with a repeat of their pitching numbers what are they? That probably makes them an additional +100 differential team. I mean that would be Texas offense last year with our pitching. It is probably the 2nd best team in baseball in that scenario. It is an all things going right scenario but that is still this teams upside
