  1. Rather than grafting a ligament into the elbow, this operation gives the pitcher a gruff, gritty personality to handle the arm pain, plus a commanding, authoritarian presence that intimidates batters into submission.
  2. Pretty sure this is why the decision really rests with Rogers rather than it being a baseball decision. However, I don't think it is a known path. It isn't as if it is a simple as leverage Ohtani to break into the biggest tech market in the world. Maybe I am wrong and they already know how they are going to make non baseball revenue off this
  3. If the Jays bringing in Soto and Ohtani you would think there is a possibility that a guy like Bassitt goes the other way rather than a Ricky T. Or they trade for Soto and start looking for pitching for Springer even. I really don't think they add $70M without cutting elsewhere as the Soto deal would obviously still leave holes
  4. For the Braves they hope they can get Kelenic down to an acceptable K-Rate to provide some value. The other two are pretty much full negative value. They paid $30m for 4 years of Kelenic. Maybe they squeeze 5 good starts out of Marco too
  5. They dumped $29M in dead money for Kelenic, got a first round arm in the deal and now make a run at Soto.
  6. I suppose you can't judge it as a standalone until we see what he does with the roster spots. I think the Braves at 31 people on the 40 have the most open spots by 5 or 6 (i haven't looked but by comparison the Jays have 38 and many holes to fill). They could be in position to add 4 or 5 guys depth guys that actually have options.
  7. With that said, a contract with an agreement to do a Rogers produced reality show (in Japanese and English), could be game changing revenue (although I'm sure against MLB rules somehow).
  8. So many assumptions there, and doesn't include the revenue already being made in those areas. Many teams a 600k attendance increase (7500 per game) in ticket sales would be capacity for the whole season. Not to mention that there was only an 11.1% increase in games that Ohtani pitched for the Angels, that economist can't be right claiming a 20% increase just having Ohtani on the roster. It included making the playoffs revenue, which many of the teams in play already were in the playoffs. Jersey sales, that number took into consideration the net sales, not the profits. The in-stadium ad revenue it's tough to say. Rogers prefers their own name being there. Unless there is revenue for Rogers in Japan they might not forgo that. There is no doubt that Ohtani adds value. But until teams can have direct TV contracts in Japan these revenues just don't feel real enough for a team.
  9. Isn't that probably true for all 8 teams in the running for Ohtani?
  10. I don't think it is just reported. Shapiro straight out said that trading those players was an imposibility because of the pr/ticket sales issues it would have caused. Fans don't ever really think about these impacts. I wonder if Jays fans will suck Atkins dick as hard as they do AA's if he wins a World Series elsewhere
  11. Jays ZIPS projections dropped today for anyone that cares
  12. I am picturing the injections coming in like a knuckle ball
  13. His TJS was in 2022. You can possibly ignore his 2023 numbers. He got his option year returned to him in his injury fights, but in doing so ruined his relationship with the Tigers. Turnbull with his option probably has value but he also switched to Boras mid season last year who would likely seek a better situation for him where he would get a better opportunity
  14. If Ohtani talks to the Jays it is a win
  15. Joe Reedy gave Schneider a MOTY 3rd place vote
  16. 6 commercials
  17. I am not sure if the Pirates cleared up their roster crunch (they outrighted 3 players and had 5 more claimed, and last I looked still had 40 on the 40) but they have a legit looking 3B playing 1B right now. Would be talking to them about Jared Triolo.
  18. Correct it is Gallophobic and prejudiced. The French are not a race
  19. I hate the term Nominated here. Voting is finished, they didn't come in the top 3
  20. This isn't to start another Moreno discussion but Patrick Bailey was absolutely robbed. Luckily it is just an award to keep up the mentions and views in the off-season
  21. He is on two straight seasons of a sub 90 wRC+ against right handers, he isn't really even a platoon option right now.
  22. I don't think that is true. Most pitchers in this max effort era can pitch (and remain healthy) as many innings as you want to throw them out there. There just will be a lot more runs scored. moving to 12 pitchers max will kill the pitchers with no options. They need to think about the next step of the Rays before they keep trying to create more rules to score more runs.
  23. Have you seen what the A's pay their players...they can't afford outside of Oakland
  24. Now for the worst time of every baseball seasons where fans argue stupid meaningless baseball awards. It is also the time where there are some interesting roster moves. I am admittedly poorly researched this year. Does anyone have a list players which need to be added to the 40 or exposed to the rule 5?
  25. I don't understand the relationship with Hudgens. He left once already and they brought him back in this role that no one can explain properly and now they don't let him go just move him around. Oh well as long as he doesn't have any players ear anymore it would seem it is a good thing
