  1. It's kind of interesting how few SS's have ever got $15M+ per season (5 in the history of baseball...and two are Jeter)
  2. It would be a bad contract but I somewhat agree. I think there are teams that pay for the name and the 127 wRC+ (and sub 15% K-rate) since his return from the DL in June.
  3. I do find it funny that the group of "fantasy players" were always accused of prospect porn and never thinking about making the team good that year. Then the casuals have spent most of this year worrying about what will happen next year.
  4. No way you can look at it in that kind of a vacuum. Teams without a SS need would be in. Boston, Yankees, Dodgers all make sure that it gets up to $20M per. Nats are always looking for Veteran leaders and have no issues moving everyone on their roster defensively. Then there are the teams with needs that you are putting in the "don't have the money" category.
  5. I don't question any move Silvergun makes

  7. BA's MiLB level All-Stars. Tellez gets AA DH. Vlad jr. gets Rookie 3B http://www.baseballamerica.com/minors/2016-minor-league-classification-star-teams/#hbQRuw8QC9bmVHMh.97
  8. Seems easy...keep winning. What we know right now is that prices are rising and season ticket sales are at a 15-20 year high. The drop-off, when it happens (at least the huge drop-off) is going to take a couple years at least. After that, nothing is guaranteed. Casual fans everywhere are similar...they never seem to believe in the team if they aren't in a playoff spot or leading a division. Look at Baltimore right now, drawing less on a weekend than they did last year.
  9. We went through this already with 5 straight years of sellouts. I'd say about 1% of these become diehard baseball fans at the most. Maybe 3 to 5 percent learn what Buck and Tabby teach them about baseball and are diehard Jays fans. The rest never returned.
  10. "It's a metaphor"
  11. Didn't stubhub used to show a total of the number of tickets available? The tickets are sold. There won't be a lot of walk up but there are a bunch of people that will think that this is the cheapest they have been able to see in a game in 3 months.
  12. 30K won't even be an issue. Better question will be how below face can you find tickets online.
  13. This thread is truly the meeting of the greatest baseball minds.
  14. You need to expand to other sports...or start sports betting I'm sure it will better help you understand the sinking feeling which you are prematurely feeling. The good news is that there are no eating chicken in the dugout rumours yet.
  15. Binding contract...I'll let the league decide on the amount. Congrats on your Tie though.
  16. Happy Birthday Min! We all chipped in and got you a 5 month vacation...from all this DDL stress. Okay it was all FTD
  17. None. I'm not tied to this prospect class they way I was to many in the past. Barely used my milb.tv account this year. That and I only view Vladdy as a high end potential prospect.
  18. Looking to be the 2nd Philippine born Major League player ever...joining Bobby Chouinard.
  19. So many good ball players have been passed up because they were terrible football players...it's about time it stopped
  20. 1985 playoff implosion too. But yes 1987's losing their last 7 (after a 7 game winning streak), including 4 one run games against the only team that could catch you...that was a bad one. In my mind that Kirk Gibson HR in the 9th off of Henke in the game with 7 left was almost as big as 1 legged Kirk Gibson. Forgotten now but any loss at that point would have changed the outcome of the season.
  21. There are plenty of places to sell and I can't stop people from PM'ing people. We are supposed to be a community here.
  22. Tinnish loves to hit, and loves hitters, it's his passion. He just is a pitcher and happens to be much better at finding pitchers. It bothered the f*** out of him when Quebec wanted him as a pitcher, that's why he came back to play at the NCBL.
  23. Just like last year, if I see people selling here trying to maximize their profits, I will delete the posts. I'm not saying not to make a profit but this will not be a place where you can sell to avoid StubHub fees. Check Stubhub and sell for less than what people can buy for on there. I don't care if it's $1 more. I watched board members try to gouge board members last year and I don't want to see it. I know I have Admin's support on this.
  24. obvious troll accounts thrive off of bannings and come back 10 fold. I'd rather know who they are. What bothers me is the long time posters that respond to them in the way they want to people to respond to them (The eat dicks responses, or you are an idiot). Real Accountant (Dogg) has harmlessly posted here for 2 years now. 90% know it's him. I respond to him on baseball terms only. We can monitor him, and can honestly say that he hasn't tried to sneak in a second account. That pretty much makes him a regular poster now. Vialotor we knew was MJ. Someone like Spanky knew it was MJ, but he can't just ignore him and only respond on baseball terms. A guy like MJ hates people thinking he's a legit poster, he wants people to get off topic. Games like last night's allow him to thrive. As King Kat says...if he stays in the GDT we shouldn't care. When he mocks us, I ban him. Now we'll await a barrage of new accounts and we'll have to work overtime to control. Gov you'd make a great mod by the way.
