  1. did anyone really think AA was going to be able to work this one out? Maybe the players can pass a hat? Get AA out on Young street with a tin can and "bring Russell home" sign?
  2. all of this can change if the jays make the playoffs. A playoff run has an amazing way of changing perception. Jays signed better FA after the 1985 season. It makes a huge difference in what players think. Interbrew did damage to the team's rep that still hasn't been repaired. They threw away the good reputation that Labatt had built up. Labatt was a big spender that put the jays in a position to attract anyone they wanted. Jays were one of the biggest payrolls in baseball when they went back to back, they also had 4 million fans a year and were a cash machine.
  3. there is nothing wrong with the $ amount Rogers is spending on the team.
  4. the perceived problem with the currency, the thought of border crossings and the fact that ownership during the Interbrew era were complete twats and now not winning for 20 years... it's a lot to swallow.
  5. what's the old saying... prospects are trading chips? I'm sure every time AA is on the phone the first thing he hears is "Stroman" I'm glad the Stro-show is still a jay. Sanchez too... I hope we hit April with both those guys still in the fold.
  6. according what most are saying Detroit's farm was absolutely shyte before this trade... how does it rank now that they traded one of the few guys who were rated marginally well? lol
  7. that goes to my point of Pillar and "who" in LF. they need a good 4th OF on the bench just in case and to give them a bat for pinch hitting late in games. this year we need to start with a min of 4 men on the bench and a 5th would be more acceptable. give Gibbons some options so he can actually show if he can manage.
  8. why are so many harsh on Pompey. he's a little older and has the baseball smarts to step in and play. if he had not broken his hand 2 years in a row he would probably have already made the team last year.
  9. can they keep Goins on the bench and have him play the 8th and 9th inning every other day so Reyes doesn't have to be on the field so much?
  10. this sounds really good. will be interesting to see how healthy and ready he is come april 1st. who is the forth outfielder now?? Jose in R, Pompey in CF, Pillar and who for LF?
  11. the Miami and Mets deals have soured me and AA has basically had his head up his ass since then? he really hasn't done anything since... gave away a catcher and signed one that is worse for a 2 year deal.... This has to be the last year for AA and Beeston. if the jays blow junks again this year there wont be much that would save their jobs. there.... a positive? lol
  12. does the jays front office know what "out of contention" means?
  13. both are correct.... Jays probably have the least money to offer so the jays would by default be his last choice.
  14. LOL dont think either would know how to do their part for that to happen.
  15. I'm sure he'll have a his public say on what he thinks needs to be done. Question is whether he says enough to have AA trade him for what he says. lol
  16. what's the over/under for how many games Lawrie will be in the lineup next year? where is he least likely to break?
  17. he's a horrible bat so you cant use him as a pinch hitter. he's a horrible bat so you dont want him getting 3-4 AB per game He's got a horrible success rate for stealing so he's a bad risk as a pinch runner where would you use him? He's not the 4th best OF defender the jays have. He's fast but falls asleep way too often.
  18. not getting Martin 2 years ago was a huge mistake. My only question is how many more games his body will hold up. getting him might take a deal for to many years.
  19. how do you "properly" use a one dimensional player who falls asleep and gets picked off trying to do the one thing he is supposed to be good at?
  20. Gose is not even a viable bench player. he has speed to burn, but he makes Rajai Davis look like a rocket scientist. He was a prospect a couple years ago and now he's been around almost long enough to be called a bust. It's not a skill problem, it's all down to a lack of smarts and it's not getting better. He might not even make the team this year and he is out of options. He has zero trade value. Most teams have better options in their minor league systems, as do the jays.
  21. unless you can get Gose a brain transplant he's a waste of space
  22. Gose will spend his entire existence in the proverbial Left field. physically he's elite but he's short bus special and there is no getting around that.... you just cant fix stupid.
