That's a real risk of potentially needing to use these guys on a regular basis should Bateman either suffer from injury or need to go back to AAA for more seasoning.

I don't know what it would cost to get him, but wouldn't surprise me if the Jays traded for Jacob Young (who is apparently a trade candidate for the Nats). Basically a Straw-ish profile except he can hit LHP (at least in 2026) and is still young with control left. Between him and Bateman, it wouldn't be the best offensive CF, but probably good enough with great defense and base running.

Good call - I've seen is name floated out there and connected to the Jays a few times now.  He's a solid target IMO.  I'm not sure what he'd cost.  It's kinda gross to think we'd have to give up a real assets for a 5th OFer on the short side of a platoon - but OF defense is being prioritized more and more by teams these days.  If they ever proceed with the rule change where OFers have to start in a certain area pre-pitch, then OF defense is going to skyrocket in value.  I suspect that's 3-4 years away though, if it ever gains traction.

Nats probably should give Crews a run in CF.  Do they want a couple of our AAAA corner guys like Pinango?  It might cost us Keys...
