Dude - he's spot on.  There are SEVERAL other options full of uneducated and irrational fans.  It's essentially every other option there is.

I've always felt this place was special because it was full of highly educated fans who understand the game more than the typical fan.  That's the primary reason I've spent so much time here for past 13+ years.

Winning always brings more casual fans.  For lots of us, it can get a bit annoying.  Obviously new members are awesome for the board, but not at the expense of this place morphing into Facebook.  I come here for educated debates, news and to learn more about the game.  I don't come here for irrational nonsense.  Go vent on Facebook.

I understand man, its not like im trying to pick fights with specific people.  Theres plenty of posts i find ridiculous but just skim over so not sure why its hard for others to employ the same principles.  

We're all here because we love the Jays and show our Fandom in different ways.  We can agree and disagree on what we feel is the best path towards winning.  Thats what message boards are about lol.

I feel exactly the same. Not sure what people get out of just whining and complaining about every move that backfires, even when the move makes sense.

Sometimes I have to remind myself that majority of those whiners are likely 15 years old, or old retired dudes that type with 1 finger and miss the days without bat flips.

I havent even been on this board that much aside from a few games this year and usually hibernate for most of the offseason since I watch plenty of other sports lol.

We all want the team to win (I think?) you gotta understand that its a long season and weird s*** happens. Baseball kinda needs to be viewed from a week-to-week basis instead of daily nitty gritty stuff if that makes sense. Big picture.

I almost wonder if the problem is people following other sports and trying to apply that knowledge to baseball, when it really doesn’t translate because baseball is so random compared to the other sports.

I dont follow other sports and baseball is all I care for, so maybe my perspective is completely different

But right now anyone observing this team can see things are not the same as they were at the end of last year. Bats are flat and defensively they have not been good

Drastic moves after 8 games just isn't wise.  Panicking rarely works. 

I mean obviously Little needs to go to AAA, but they've made that move.  Things may go completely south. That's always a possibility in baseball.  But it's far too early to say with any confidence this isn't still a very good baseball team that has a great chance to make the playoffs.

Jays division odds have gone from 30% or something to 15%.  While Yankees from 30% to 60% in 5 days.

It's been an awful 5 days and likely changed the shape of the season.  At least according to the playoff odds math.  I know last year we came back from a situation like this ... but we didn't in 1998, or 1999, or 2003, or 2006, or 2007, or 2008, or 2013, or 2017, or 2018, or 2021, 2022, or 2023, or 2024.  In 2022 and 2023 we got the wild card, but those years the division was lost very early, which has quite likely just happened again with a slow start and injuries. 

Fans that seem irrational are really not.  Humans are good at probability even if not good at math.  The seemingly over-the-top reactions always correlate with the playoff odds and injuries.

In the division, you don’t want to dig yourself into a hole too early. There are still more than 150 games left, though, so a lot can happen between now and October.

Are things looking great for the Jays right now? Not really. This was supposed to be one of the easier stretches of the schedule with the Rockies and White Sox, yet you’ve already had the Kirk injury, lost an arm in Ponce, seen some key bats scuffling, and watched sloppy defense out of the gate cost them a few games. It also doesn’t get any easier from here, with the Dodgers coming to town followed by a nine-game road trip through Milwaukee, Arizona, and Anaheim.

At this point, the Jays just need to keep their heads above water during this stretch and stay above .500. Hopefully they can take care of business against the White Sox today, which feels like a must-win heading into the Dodgers series. After that, you’d like to see them beat up on the Twins next weekend at home and then handle Arizona and the Angels on the west coast trip. And sure, it would be sweet if they could take two of three from the Dodgers, but realistically, you’d probably take one.

If they can come out of this stretch still hanging around .500, there’s no reason to think they can’t get right back into the race once the schedule turns to May and the bats start clicking. Just survive April, get hot in May, and suddenly you’re right back in it.

You think people don't know that?  Obviously a slow start is meaningful and will impact our ability for a good season and potentially a playoff spot.  You think fans want to hear people tell them the obvious, doom and gloom post, suggesting the season's over 8 games in and that the FO and coaching staff are all morons?

Why are we equating lower chances of winning the division as some kind of “season over” scenario?

Dont need to win the division, just gotta get in. Playoff chances are still solid even if the division chances have dropped.

Is anyone actually saying the season is over? I’m not that’s for sure. But with expectations so high I thought this team would be 6-2 in convincing fashion. The start against the A’s only teased us right off the hop. Now we are signing Patrick Corbin and Kirk has a broken finger
