Not to mention with the Jays taking him slowly this spring because of arm fatigue, he can still win ROY missing a month and the Jays could gain a year of control avoiding Super 2 status, I'd be fine with that to be honest. Better safe than sorry. You don't have to play 162 there's a threshold, can't remember at the moment but it's like 4-6 weeks or something like that.

I think now that he's opening the season on the IL, he's getting service time. Besides, even if he was healthy, the Jays shouldn't be worrying about service time manipulation in a season where a deep post-season run is a legit expectation

He was dealing with arm fatigue when he came to camp, normal for a young guy after his workload, better to be careful, they want him ramped up for the stretch run.
