harvey16 Verified Member Posted September 11, 2025 Posted September 11, 2025 I'd like to start a new type of thread, asking random and obscure Jays trivia. Name the 4 players that were on the 92 and 93 Jays World Series rosters that didn't get into any games. There were 2 each year! First to get the right answer gets a virtual cookie lol. No googling, that runs the fun!
Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted September 11, 2025 Posted September 11, 2025 Someone always cheats and ruins these in the first post, but I'll give you a real guess. Backup catchers and shortstops immediately come to mind. I'm going to say Alfredo Griffin, who would have played, had Joe Carter not hit his iconic home run. Then I'll say Dick Schofield for the 93 team. For catchers, I'll say Randy Knorr for one of those years and go with a reliever in Danny Cox as my final guess.
harvey16 Verified Member Posted September 11, 2025 Author Posted September 11, 2025 Good guesses Knorr was actually the backup in both 92 and 93, he played in 93 but didn't in 92, and Schofield is also right he did not play in 93. Danny Cox is wrong though, he played in game 6 in 1993 and helped blow the 5-1 lead they had before Carter's heroics in the 9th. So your missing 1 from 92 and one from 93, both were position players. I have a thought that one may be a long time Blue Jay at the end of his career, but I'm not sure on the other guy in 93. This is a fun question, so I'll let others take some guesses.

The 1993 guy is much more obscure and was not a long tenured Jays players. Grant77 1

I cheated by looking at my 1993 coffee mug with the roster on it and will say Darnell Coles.
Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted September 11, 2025 Posted September 11, 2025 Kevin Gausman just missed a Maddux (complete game shutout with less than 100 pitches), but I found some interesting trivia regarding that feat. Who has the only extra inning Maddux? Who has the most Maddux's since the term was coined in 2012 (with 4)? Both are Blue Jays.

The extra inning guy is the first player that would come to mind for me. The guy with 4 such games is a guy who was notorious for pitching to contact, but still a shocking answer.

Oh extra inning maddux - Halladay?
