Clase has close to the worst strike-zone awareness I've seen in a very long time

We also saw Bo take strike 3 down the pipe and, in spite of the walks, Vladdy this spring kept challenging very obvious strikes. I feel like these guys either need to guess a little less or swing a little more.

Santander signing should finally put the nail in the coffin for Atkins

It'll be fine. He'll get it going. He's certainly not the only guy switching teams and struggling early on. Just look at Joc.

Good game, hard to really complain about anything. Jays got robbed on a few defensive plays and that was the difference.

Could have won any of them

There were definitely some very solid chances to score with runners on third and less than 2 outs that were squandered. If the team managed to plate even one of these it could have easily led to a victory.

Nonsense.

Remember when people were saying this about Varsho early 2023??

Yeah

This team really needs to figure its s*** out. This whole win a couple and lose a couple is very tiresome.

Yeah it has not been a fun ride so far this year. Every time it looks like they’ve turned a corner, they lose a few winnable games.

2 steps forward, 2 steps back. Repeat.

I did not see the game but caught a bit of the 9th, that non-competitive AB by Vlady to finish the game was ugly

Whenever Vlad comes up in the 9th in a close game im honestly shocked if he does something. He’s gotta be the most un-clutch player to get ever to receive 200+ mil

I believe the numbers don't show this to be true, IIRC.

I’d be interested to see how his WPA compares to other elite hitters but im too lazy to look.

11th since entering the League in '20. Pretty damn good.

Yeah it's crazy. I don't recall another player who's numbers told a completely different story than the eye test. Even though the #'s don't show it, it certain "feels" like Vlad never delivers in the clutch.

It feels to me like he's just so damn overpaid people don't realize how good he is, Ed Rogers bent over for a lifetime Canadian/Dominican first all time Blue Jay lifer, freakin' Birds I tell ya. But Vlad is good, very good. Just way overpaid.

Yeah it's one of those things where when you watch a guy every day, there's a lot of bias in the eye test.

I've met people who don't watch the sport if it isn't their team in the MLB/NHL/NFL/, that's f***ed up to me in all walks of sport, I love it all.

Looks like we will miss Pivetta and King and will face Cease, Vazquez and Kolek.

Also numbers will still be skewed because he started hitting well in 2024 only after the games didn’t really matter

I hate this narrative. Vlad had a bad 4 weeks to start the season and mashed the rest of the way. The power didn't show up fully until June, but he shouldn't be remotely blamed in the slightest for the team falling out of contention, that's on the rest of the hitters in the lineup and one of MLB's worst bullpens.

There hasn't really been an easy part of the schedule so far.
