Let's talk game threads for 2025

It's time to start thinking about the actual season, which is exciting.

I wanted to get opinions on game threads. How they're managed is up to the community, we do it all sorts of different ways on different sites. I have a few requirements but they're not really all that important from the end user side of things:

1. Game threads will go in the Blue Jays forum (just as you all did last season). The following morning, I will move yesterday's game thread to the archive forum (where it can still be viewed and posted in) to avoid cluttering the Jays forum with a dozen game threads no longer relevant.

2. We need them posted in the morning so I can do some prep work around promoting them during game time. Nothing too insane, just up by 11am eastern or so.

With that said, do you all want me to just create the thread every morning? Or do you all prefer to have a rotating cast of people who create the thread and add their own flavor to that day's thread?

In the past we would just do them by whoever started the gdt. Nothing scheduled. If the person starting threads was on a win streak the unwritten rule was that they had precedence on starting that days gdt. Again completely informal. Sometimes a thread would not be posted until minutes before game time.  Brock, if you require it to be posted by 11am then perhaps you should start the thread.  Some posters participate exclusively in gdt's and vice versa.  I'm good with whatever consensus you arrive at. Hopefully I will be able to post the JaysDance.gif at least 87 times this upcoming season. 😉

Your system sounds solid. As long as you are able/willing to make the threads every day.

As long as the OP is updated with the lineups/pitching matchups prior to gametime it really doesn't matter when the GDT is created or by whom. Definitely no issues with creating the game thread early in the day.

That's no problem, it's part of my season routine. And in the coming weeks, you're going to see more of @Brandon Glick, who is shadowing me and learning the job. We believe in a very hands-on approach to community and I'm stretched too thin over five sites.

I like your idea Brock.  The earlier the better, it gives us more time to discuss the game.  My problem are the all negative posts by some regulars and we all know who they are.
