Gausman has flashed good velocity early on but he's getting killed by softly hit singles.

Buck's thesis about not having a strong or full spring training and it's impact on performance is sort of mute once you get over a 100 games into the season. Somebody tell him.

It's hard not to think this week that the Jays are tanking. They really looked OK for a while there, and now the last half of each game is unwatchable.

 

UPDATE - OK, it's just the relievers giving up homers early. The position players and starters are busting their butts.

Don't look now but Vlad is suddenly an even 0 defender at third base by both DRS and OAA. He's making a pretty strong case towards rewarding him with a bunch of starts at third base next season.

Start him at 3B next season with Horwitz at 1B. Much easier/cheaper to find a DH than a 3B. If Vlad sucks there then so be it. He sucks at 1B too.

Even ten years ago we could have traded Berrios for a very good return. Now I'm not sure if anyone is looking at his peripherals without significant concern.

I certainly feel a lot better about Berrios based on the strong finish to the season as he's fired off 7 very good starts in a row and 8 of 9 being very solid. All of Gausman, Berrios and Francis are finishing well which bodes well for next season.
