John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted July 11, 2024 Posted July 11, 2024 enjoy the remainder of the game.
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted July 11, 2024 Author Posted July 11, 2024 Horwitz with another solo jack. 405 feet to RF where Bonds used to hit them. Nice.
wilko Old-Timey Member Posted July 11, 2024 Posted July 11, 2024 Is it too late to add Horwitz to the ASG?
Omar Old-Timey Member Posted July 11, 2024 Posted July 11, 2024 Jansen can't throw out a runner to save his life.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted July 11, 2024 Posted July 11, 2024 Horwitz with another solo jack. 405 feet to RF where Bonds used to hit them. Nice. Horwitz is another in the Davis Schneider mold in that the physical tools aren't huge - Horwitz's exit velos indicate 40-45 raw power at best - but he's an absolute sweet spot fiend. Unlike the Babe however, Horwitz has enough bat control and plate discipline to put a lot more balls in play.
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted July 11, 2024 Author Posted July 11, 2024 Pop throwing a cutter now? I havent watched many of his recent games... is this a new thing?
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted July 11, 2024 Posted July 11, 2024 I think Horwitz could be a similar bat to Frank Catalanotto at the MLB level, with a higher OBP and maybe perhaps a bit more power.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted July 11, 2024 Posted July 11, 2024 Pop throwing a cutter now? I havent watched many of his recent games... is this a new thing? He's been throwing it most of the season to get hitters to not sit on his sinker. It...has not been yielding results.
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted July 11, 2024 Author Posted July 11, 2024 He's been throwing it most of the season to get hitters to not sit on his sinker. It...has not been yielding results. Checking savant, it's actually a good pitch for him. It's his sinker that gets destroyed. Pop has really weird numbers.... like his chase rate is ELITE, but his whiff rate is garbage. If anything, he needs to throw fewer sinkers and more of the sliders and cutters. 75% sinkers when the pitch is getting killed seems like a bad plan.
Omar Old-Timey Member Posted July 11, 2024 Posted July 11, 2024 Ho-hum, another series win! bring on Moreno and his noodle bat.
Masterbather Verified Member Posted July 12, 2024 Posted July 12, 2024 Didn't know it was an afternoon game. Couldn't watch anyhow. So they won...yay? Good to see Horwitz and Gausman do well.

connorp Old-Timey Member Posted July 12, 2024 Posted July 12, 2024 Woohoo! This Jays season is basically mirroring your board teams I’d assume. Mostly a pile of s***, no future, but then you’ll pull out the odd winning week and break out this dance
