Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted April 13, 2024 Posted April 13, 2024 Yup and yet we still got smoked against an absolute trash team. Clearly no fault of KK/Varsho lol. This team is not inspiring a lot of confident to an already shaky fanbase. Let's hope he turn this s*** around. Way too many blowouts right now for a team that should be relying on strong pitching and D.

Think he topped out 95. He didnt sit at that. But missing spots and movement not usually what it is. I think 7-8 balls hit were 95+ EV . Whiff totals were not bad. He went to his SL more than usual as a result. I dont know about max, but its a concern to any rational person. Worst back to back starts of his career.

Worst back to back starts of his career. Answering BTS first, the velocity was better but still inconsistent from inning to inning. He'd look good for an inning and then come back out and it would be 89-92 and then back up. I'm hoping that this is more like we'd see from him in Spring Training, I think Buck mentioned he only threw like 3 innings in Spring Training so this could very well be his arm just needing catch up. In an ideal world I think we'd IL him and then have him start a 30 day rehab stint and just treat it like Spring Training.

There's concern for sure, here's the velo from yesterday, as you'll see he was fine the first 2 innings but started to tire in the 3rd and hit a wall in the 4th, seems more of an SP not fully ramped up yet, to be honest... https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/gamefeed?date=4/12/2024&gamePk=744954&chartType=pitch&legendType=pitchName&playerType=pitcher&inning=1&count=&pitchHand=&batSide=&descFilter=&ptFilter=&resultFilter=&hf=pitchVelocity&sportId=1#744954
NHLPRO Verified Member Posted April 13, 2024 Posted April 13, 2024 Imagine clinching a wild card spot and celebrating like you won a world series or Division title just to get knock out in 2 straight games 2 years in a row. This team is pathetic. I expect nothing less.

Worst back to back starts of his career. Good summary. Looked better but it was one of those games he has a couple times a year where they were laying off the splitter and smacking his fastball.
