Connor is the champion troll here. 10 guys of varying levels of intelligence and all sorts of opinions, political or otherwise, teaming up on him and losing badly. You can't beat a guy with no shame and no ego who otherwise appears to be doing well. Connor is a short, bald, creepy weirdo looking for a rent-a-bride, ignorant American and ignorant about a lot of other things but smart enough in things that matter to him to get by. That's a fine list of insults except he not only accepts his position in life but takes pride in it. You guys are going to need some new material. A guy brags about going overseas to find women and is honest about so far miserably failing at it isn't going to be hurt when you bring it up.

As far as getting your panties in a bunch about the C vs F thing, which is proxy for complaining about American dominance/ignorance over Canadian (and global) culture, better get used to it. You see housing prices here? You see 20 Indian TFWs being packed into a basement to enrich slumlords and supply fast food and telecom oligarchs with cheap labour? You see Canada's gap in entrepreneurship and technological innovation fall farther and farther behind the U.S.? You see the complete collapse in the health care system which has been Canada's bragging point for the last 50 years (and guns and hockey but those gaps are quickly closing too)?

Canada is headed in one of two directions. Either complete housing serfdom with a permanent underclass or it'll be absorbed into the States. And Connor will be here to laugh at all of us when it happens and we will just have to take it.

I, for one, welcome our new Landlord Overlords

I'm guessing Sault Ste. Marie has turned into such a drug den that no one wants to live there and housing and rents are relatively cheap. But there is a well known and serious problem across all of Canada's major urban centers with the cost of housing for basically an entire generation of people. I mean, I benefit from it insofar as much as the paper wealth in my house that I have no plans to sell has increased. But I recognize the problem that is creating a permanent underclass of low skilled labour while anyone under the age of 35 with any skills at all are moving to the States to be paid twice as much with a cost of living half of Canada's. Except the ones so brainwashed by left-wing dogma that they think a place like Toronto offers a better life than, say, Texas. Because of guns or health care or abortion or something. And having a bunch of those types of people with no counterbalance is going to wreak further havoc. Oh yeah, also the gender imbalance of the mass immigration which is going to lead to a rise of incel culture here.

So basically a bunch of poor, far left and far right angry nutjobs while the political and upper class benefit from them fighting.

How about we not derail this thread into an argument over the preferred ways to measure temperature and personal political beliefs?

Canada has really gone to s*** the last few years. There is no ignoring it, quite honestly...

As a penny stock guy who is into tech startups, I see it first hand. I feel like the canary in the coal mine. S&P is making new highs daily yet all the small cap tech stocks in Canada are or near lows unless they are pump and dumps. The angel investor workshops I've been involved in have drastically changed over the last 5 years. More than half of the presenters are now international entrepreneurs who are looking for permanent residency in Canada. Without that, our entire angel investor industry would be dead. I know one guy, ONE, who I would consider a 10 out of 10 in terms of tech knowledge and business skill who wants to stay any make it work in Canada and is born here. As opposed to hopping on the first plane headed south. Luckily I'm working with that guy.

People who try to defend Canada over the States are really abject fools right now. I've been asked why don't I move to the U.S.? I just really like where I live. It's not even a Canada thing. If this became part of the United States, I'd be fine with it. Nothing beats the east side GTA up into cottage country in terms of nature (I'm not a mountain guy so AB/BC doesn't do it for me), relative safety from natural disasters and climate change and just overall vibe.

Yup and like you said the cost of living is outrageous... So young professionals are just going to move away. I own a condo downtown, don't like a crazy lifestyle by any means and my expenses are like $7000-$8000 a month... If you were working a "regular salary paying job" with the amount of crazy taxes you have to pay you'd have to making close to 200k just to break even.

Or you could live in a state like Nevada, Texas, Florida etc.. Buy a 3BR, 3BA 1800 sq foot house for less than 500K while paying substantially less in taxes.

I would be ecstatic if Canada was absorbed by the USA. I’d hand over my passport in a heartbeat and move to the south.

And who's fault is that? lol... the answer is quite easy.

In the US, Canada literally never is mentioned.

And never really has been.

A bit more concerned with the other border issues.
