Of course, I've mentioned his conditioning in my posts, Jays have all the resources in the world - they probably left well enough alone thinking he would continue where he left off last season - clearly not the case. If he comes into camp next season looking like he does now and underperforms again then we have a problem.

 

Also, no guarantees we sign Jansen in 2025 - he's going to the highest bidder -as he should.

 

I'm sure they've been told, they even let it be publicly known they weren't happy with Barriera coming in heavy at camp.

 

I know Kirk came in fat, but he was dealing with a kid and s***, he might of not noticed he was a whale considering he shed a lot the season prior, but these guys coming back like that after all getting in better shape the season before is a fail on their fault, not the org.

I agree, give him a pass for this year since it was a weird situation. However im not optimistic he won’t still be fat next spring. Vlad didn’t come to camp in better shape even though he struggled last year. And Manoah was huge… we’ll see with these 3 guys but im not optimistic at all.

Back when Ken Griffey Jr. played with Seattle and later with Cinci I made a point of trying to get out to games when he came to Toronto. Some players you just have to see. Ohtani is one of those.

 

Agreed but it was too expensive to get to Seattle from Victoria this year. I saw Griffey, Buhner and Johnson back in 1990 I think? The Jays had Steib, Stottlemyre, McGriff, Olerud and Fernandez. Both teams were fun to watch that year.

All they should really have to do is point to 2021 when Vlad definitely did put in effort in the off-season and was noticeably leaner than 2020. MVP caliber season. Should be all the motivation he needs to do it again this upcoming offseason

Yeah, he and his wife started a trek across Canada with his wife a videographer and photographer back before the season, I hope he really spent all this time in the Big White North.

They sent both Vlad and Kirk personnel and it worked, same again this past season save for likely Kirk as he had a wedding and babies, I think.
