gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted July 25, 2023 Posted July 25, 2023 What a savvy trade good ol' Ross pulled off for Varsho.
Captain_Obvious Verified Member Posted July 25, 2023 Posted July 25, 2023 Varsho sucks..lol Varsho needs to re-learn how to hit. He has been atrocious offensively.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted July 25, 2023 Posted July 25, 2023 Varsho is going to have a wRC+ under 70 soon at this rate. If he has options left and can be sent down, then they really need to consider it. Even for a great CF that’s s***. In LF it’s horrendous. He for sure has options. He just might be over the service time requirement to reject an assignment. He would have to agree to it.
Omar Old-Timey Member Posted July 25, 2023 Posted July 25, 2023 I noticed that s*** on Groves pants in the second inning.
WryNGinger Verified Member Posted July 25, 2023 Posted July 25, 2023 What was that in the 3rd? 3 outs on 6 pitches? ffs...
saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted July 25, 2023 Posted July 25, 2023 Varsho needs to re-learn how to hit. He has been atrocious offensively. Captain obvious strikes again! They bought high on Varsho. He's a decent defender, but no where close to Keirmaier level which the defensive numbers might have suggested last year. I'd trade him for Bellinger at this point.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted July 25, 2023 Posted July 25, 2023 Jason Heyward had a great rookie year. But he seemed like he was paid for what he could do based on that first and third season. He was never consistently very good.
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted July 25, 2023 Posted July 25, 2023 If Merrifield is leadoff we probably have a run by now.. Yeah, it's time but I bet they're hesitant to make the move because Springer is a lead off lifer
saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted July 25, 2023 Posted July 25, 2023 I noticed that s*** on Groves pants in the second inning. aren't you suppose to throw him out rather than let him change his pants so he can't cheat anymore?
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted July 25, 2023 Posted July 25, 2023 aren't you suppose to throw him out rather than let him change his pants so he can't cheat anymore? I believe the umpire has desecration to tell the player to change whatever they don't like. They don't have to automatically eject them unless they have 100 percent concrete evidence of cheating.
tossingthiscoin Verified Member Posted July 25, 2023 Posted July 25, 2023 It's almost impossible to score 2 runs given this poor offense.
Omar Old-Timey Member Posted July 25, 2023 Posted July 25, 2023 aren't you suppose to throw him out rather than let him change his pants so he can't cheat anymore? Come on, you know full well those rules don't apply to the Dodgers and the Yankees.
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted July 25, 2023 Posted July 25, 2023 WTF is Berrios throwing 3-1 change ups to the #8 hitter? Holy f***ing maddening.
Blue Jays Lurker 2023 Verified Member Posted July 25, 2023 Posted July 25, 2023 Barfsho 2023 WAR = 1.9 BA = .211 OBP = .273 SLG = .355 OPS = .628 At what point Ross Atkins should swallow his pride and correct a disastrous offseason move.

They can't keep running him out there. If they can't send him down, then sit him.He is lost out there. At the very least , he should be batting 9th. I'd rather see Luplow, Lukes or Merrifield in left.

You are talking about our clean up hitter to start the season. He has 2 options.

He has actually been at Kiermaier's level when playing CF. Let's not be rash over a month of complete sucking offensively.

But they need to find someone to play LF the rest of this Season.

You are being too generous to say his war is 1.9. I'd prefer FWAR more than BWAR in terms of batters, and Varsho's fwar is 0.7.
JFD Old-Timey Member Posted July 25, 2023 Posted July 25, 2023 Yeah, it's time but I bet they're hesitant to make the move because Springer is a lead off lifer Lead off lifer having the worst season of his life

Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted July 25, 2023 Posted July 25, 2023 I don't believe Varsho is a complete lost cause. I watched him a lot last year. He was a dangerous hitter and you felt he could go deep at any time. But you don't get that feeling at all this year. He got all messed up in Spring and got away from his strengths and after some initial improvement going back to an older approach it has completely snowballed on him now. These issues could probably be addressed in the off-season but we need offense now. And hope they can address this.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted July 25, 2023 Posted July 25, 2023 Like it or not your buddy Pham is coming. At this point I don't care I just want to win lol. I am tired of getting zero production from LF.
Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted July 25, 2023 Posted July 25, 2023 Take the sticky stuff away from the pitcher and he looks mortal eh lol
Blue Jays Lurker 2023 Verified Member Posted July 25, 2023 Posted July 25, 2023 Trasho = minus 2.8% Win Probability Added for Offensive Player Given average teams, this is the change in probability caused by this batter during the game A change of +/- 1 would indicate one win added or lost
Captain_Obvious Verified Member Posted July 25, 2023 Posted July 25, 2023 Springer .. killer of ralies .. he has been s*** lately.
jaysguy44 Old-Timey Member Posted July 25, 2023 Posted July 25, 2023 Oh piss of George, been absolutely useless lately
