I’d almost think about starting Varsho at C once a week over Kirk at this point. That could be a way to get another bat in LF and lengthen the lineup a bit.

Actually this guy points out he's the highest in d-WAR to OF'ers??? There's value in that but he's been swinging about the same bat as expected with a huge drop in power. Same goes for Kirk, his D is sublime, but...

Can someone please tell me why Vladdys hit didn't count in the first inning??

He hit a ground ball to shortstop, ss tossed to second that fumbled a bit and couldn't make the double play. Vladimir made it to first. Not a hit! Why?

If he hits better (above 100wRC+) then its fine for LF. If not…. yeah he should be playing CF. He’s running out of time this year to show he has something in the bat

 

I just don't think we can can afford to have 2 defensive first players in the Outfield. I don't want LF to be a blackhole defensively but we need someone who can hit playing that position.

 

Varsho should be the CF next year. But I do think they should consider platooning him as well. Like its cute he gets bunt hits agianst lefties. But his OPS is borderline unplayable vs lefties.

I’ve definitely heard about the “hit for contact” approach being preached in the org… idk if it comes from Martinez or higher up. Heard it a few times from JS in post-game interviews.

Which is why KK probably is gone next year. Varsho will shift to CF and they will focus on a better bat in LF (may even happen at the deadline where they search for a lefty killer OF bat)
