Cimber has grown on me as one of my favourite Blue Jays. No real emotions on the mound, he just goes about his business like a pro and does a great job.

I love Cimber, dude makes > $3M / year and looks like he just pulled up in a beat-up 86 Trans Am and wandered onto the diamond.

Did Buck just say velocity doesn't have an impact when it comes to pitching?

I, and most here, have a different opinion. You are entitled to your opinion, but you aren't going to get much agreement unless you back it up with facts and stats.

I don't think I have to tell anybody that this team mashed right-handed pitchers the past couple of years, or that they struggled against lefties, everyone knows that. Heading lefties to the everyday lineup cannot possibly help that situation. That's self-evident.

The fact that our rotation situation is basically the same is also self-evident.

The fact that the bullpen has not been revamped outside of one arm is also self-evident, as is the fact that we still have no power lefty and a lack of straight gas in general.

Our OF defense is definitely better, that's also self-evident. I just don't think it'll make up for the other weaknesses.

Nice having some actual dogs in the Outfield that are just going to go catch the ball.

yes he did, ignoring that a good fast ball is the best set for breaking pitches

Do you honestly think this is a championship caliber team?

Of course it is! One of the best defenses in the league? Extremely deep lineup and one that could sustain a few injuries and not be completely crippled. 3 of our 4 bench players would be starters on any other team in the MLB. We may not have the Power lineup we've had in the past, but we have a much more balanced lineup that can hit, steal and take walks. Our pitcher staff is also very strong, and our bullpen is much better with the additions of both Pop and Swanson. This is a much better team then the 92 win team we had last year. If we get bounce back seasons from either Berrios or Kikuchi that's just a bonus and we will have Ryu and Chad Greene coming back in July as insurance as well.

"Hitters are immune to velocity"

- Possibly the dumbest thing Buck has ever said, particularly since he's talking specifically about a guy who can throw 104.

Helsley coming in for a 5 out save this early in the season. Cards really, really want this one.

I never saw him play much were he was in the NL. His swing looks so long

He's always looked like that, but gets it done somehow.
