I must admit - this is a pretty fun thread. Great idea.

It wasn't an original idea by any means, have seen a few teams do the same on twitter. Will try to remember to start with number 99 Ryu next year.

Can't really tell from this angle but this was Kevin Cash btw. I thought it was a neat picture, a young player looking very much like a future manager studying the game.

Totally agree. I'm a big numbers and history guy so I appreciate it. There is a history to how the numbers came about and were issued.

Random facts about #27 for the Jays, 13 different players wore the number from 1977 through 2001, but from 2003 until last season only 4 different players have worn it, with 2 of them being a Jr.

One of my favourites as well. The Reed Johnson and Frank Catalanotto platoon was so money. Both 2 of my favourite Jays of all time.

Yep - as a young left handed kid - I often emulated Jimmy Key's smooth delivery...

One of the best pick-off moves you'll ever see, too. Key was very underrated.

Pitched in Stieb's shadow for several years. Those two, a righty-lefty combo, with quite different arsenals, was about as close to an ideal 1A and 1B as it gets.

Every important series, those two would be lined up to pitch back to back.

Key was such a freaky pitcher, he was the prototypical FIP beater. In his heyday, he averaged 5.2 K/9, and 2 BB/9, yet nobody could square him up. babip of .269 over 10 seasons before the command trailed off.
