jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted January 10, 2023 Posted January 10, 2023 Chris Cotillo @ChrisCotillo Source: Trevor Story had internal brace surgery yesterday on his right elbow and is expected to miss time. Chris Cotillo @ChrisCotillo Red Sox confirm this as: Story had internal bracing procedure of the right ulnar collateral ligament (elbow). Dr. Keith Meister performed the surgery at Texas Metroplex Institute in Arlington, Texas. Chaim Bloom will talk today. Damn my LOD team preview from Greenwood won't be looking too good now.
connorp Old-Timey Member Posted January 10, 2023 Posted January 10, 2023 Hmmmmmm so it wasn't the physical that killed the Mets deal, if Heyman's source is to be believed: SFG - deal dead based on physical NYM - deal dead based on Contract terms disagreement MIN - TBD Seriously? The physical led to the change of terms with NYM. Dumbass.

I just heard on one Boston channel that recovery time for that procedure could be 4-6 months, they dont know his situation though so it may be less.....Now Boston needs a SS.

They probably sign Elvis Andrus or Jose Iglesias. Nobody else really available as a FA.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted January 10, 2023 Posted January 10, 2023 Yeah, he'll be done for half the season. I will be receiving some Jonathan Villar trade offers in my inbox soon.

BTS Community Moderator Posted January 10, 2023 Posted January 10, 2023 I'm reading a book about the first 20 years of the Yankees and came across Nick Altrock, who was kept around into his 50s as a player who was allowed to play a couple times a year, basically as a jester. He hit and pitched. This might be the weirdest Fangraphs page I've ever seen. https://www.fangraphs.com/players/nick-altrock/1000191/stats?position=PB

At age 47, in his only plate appearance of the season, he ripped a triple in his first at bat since he was 41 (maybe his first PA since that HR!) At age 52, in his only plate appearance of the season - and his first since the triple mention above, he singled.

Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted January 10, 2023 Posted January 10, 2023 TJS he's gone for most if not the whole season, if true. Hahaha... Bosox! F U!!!!

MikeM3 Verified Member Posted January 10, 2023 Posted January 10, 2023 I feel like Story's needed TJ for 2 years now. And still Bloom signed him. Quite an interesting strategy to deal Betts and use that budget space for more, significantly worse players.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted January 10, 2023 Posted January 10, 2023 Oof Huge blow for the Red Sox

Ehjays Verified Member Posted January 10, 2023 Posted January 10, 2023 True. Cohen can suck a dick. Asking to re-up the physical each year is insulting and sets a pretty bad precedence for the players union

BCZ Verified Member Posted January 11, 2023 Posted January 11, 2023 Sorry if this has already been discussed but what were the health concerns with Correa that the other teams were so afraid of?
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted January 11, 2023 Posted January 11, 2023 Sorry if this has already been discussed but what were the health concerns with Correa that the other teams were so afraid of? Apparently an old injury that didn't properly heal. That may result in Correa breaking down and unable to play.... At least, that's the Twitter reporting.
