gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted June 5, 2022 Posted June 5, 2022 No one is getting fooled by Gausman's splitter anymore, so they are just sitting on the fastball. Wat
RobinThicc Verified Member Posted June 5, 2022 Posted June 5, 2022 Gonna be one of those games...oh well
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted June 5, 2022 Posted June 5, 2022 The pitch sequencing seems dumb today
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted June 5, 2022 Posted June 5, 2022 I don't like pitch selection sequencing so far, horrible. Agreed
RobinThicc Verified Member Posted June 5, 2022 Posted June 5, 2022 Trevor richards up aka Charlie waving the white flag already
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted June 5, 2022 Posted June 5, 2022 Gausman normally gets ahead with a first pitch strike… for some reason today he keeps throwing splitter out of the zone for ball 1
DigitalRock Old-Timey Member Posted June 5, 2022 Posted June 5, 2022 Just no luck...Twins getting all the bounces

Solaxys Old-Timey Member Posted June 5, 2022 Posted June 5, 2022 Wat They are not swinging at his splitter - his swing/miss pitch, wym wat. Mariners have done the same thing as well. He is having to pitch more fast balls in response and they are getting slap hits in response being late to them, which are finding holes.
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted June 5, 2022 Posted June 5, 2022 The pitch sequencing seems dumb today This seems to happen a lot when Jansen is catching.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted June 5, 2022 Posted June 5, 2022 This is just a bad game in general from everyone. Defense has been bad and Gausman isn’t sharp. Bad game calling from Jansen. Bad day all around
jaysguy44 Old-Timey Member Posted June 5, 2022 Posted June 5, 2022 Well, at least the Rays are getting s*** on also today.

Effit Old-Timey Member Posted June 5, 2022 Posted June 5, 2022 Yesterday was fun but it’s been a disappointing series overall.
Dagagad Verified Member Posted June 5, 2022 Posted June 5, 2022 I feel bad for Gausman today. A combo of terrible errors behind him, every hit finding a hole and him not having his best stuff. This should be 1-1.
THANOS Old-Timey Member Posted June 5, 2022 Posted June 5, 2022 I don't understand why teams are so easily shelling Gausman lately. Is it that easy to read the splitter out of his hand, or has he been tipping his pitches for weeks?
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted June 5, 2022 Posted June 5, 2022 Gausman said it himself the other day, he knows the other teams have made adjustments. His turn to figure out the same. Also, Jays need to trade for pitching, lol.

You make it sound like Gausman can't throw strikes with his splitter. He has six walks all year, lol.

Is it that easy to read the splitter out of his hand, or has he been tipping his pitches for weeks? Maybe has to do with Jansen catching him lately instead of the other catchers?? I recall Gausman pitching badly in his first game against the Rangers, Jansen caught him there too IIRC.

See that 1-2 pitch to Larnach? Splitter. Larnach didn't swing. They know its coming. If he can throw it for strikes, then let him do it - but he's trying to use that splitter to K by sinking it and they aren't biting. Mariners didn't bite.
connorp Old-Timey Member Posted June 5, 2022 Posted June 5, 2022 Manoah 1 Gausman 2 Been preaching it since Day 1 this year

Is it that easy to read the splitter out of his hand, or has he been tipping his pitches for weeks? He absolutely hasn’t got shelled today. At least as of yet. I feel like I’m watching a different game sometimes.

Kirk has just been a better game caller and framer. I question pitches and setups that Jansen calls frequently. I rarely do that with Kirk.
