connorp Old-Timey Member Posted May 11, 2022 Posted May 11, 2022 The bullpen is fine This warrants the dog in the bar surrounded by fire gif
Jays2champs Verified Member Posted May 11, 2022 Posted May 11, 2022 Unfortunate, the offense did what it had to do. Bullpen just couldn't close it off. It's still way early, teams with worse records at this point of the season went deep in the playoffs/won the WS. We're still in PO position. Keep it rolling and need to get some help in the pen.

It's still early agreed, but would suck in September if the Jays miss out on the division or wildcard by one game, because of games in May like this. Against division rivals, gotta win this game when numbers heavily in your favour!
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted May 11, 2022 Posted May 11, 2022 I’m so done with this f***ing team. See you guys tomorrow. Exactly how I feel. Past week has been rough to watch

Against division rivals, gotta win this game when numbers heavily in your favour! 100% agreed. Still too early to panic though, still convinced this team makes the playoffs. It's a rough patch but wee haven't seen this team's best. I think we need to stop focusing so much on the Yanks and see the bigger picture. Once you're in, anything can happen. Just need to keep pushing. They'll be fine.

Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted May 11, 2022 Posted May 11, 2022 Jays had a hot 96% win probably after the first out of the 9th. Feelsf***ingbadman

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted May 11, 2022 Posted May 11, 2022 Exactly how I feel. Past week has been rough to watch Kickchi vs Severino figured not much chance Then twice I felt for sure they were going to win and then twice it was snatched away in a 3 run HR instant Rough indeed
JaysAllMighty Old-Timey Member Posted May 11, 2022 Author Posted May 11, 2022 I made 2 GDTs and they both resulted in fiascos, I give up.

Against division rivals, gotta win this game when numbers heavily in your favour! I think early is really irrelevant. It's another division L. I get peoples thinking - its a marathon - not a sprint. There is time. I'd rather not be into praying for a later in season scorching hot stretch again. 21 came up short as a result of early losses like last night. They happen to every team. But can't happen very often if you want to win. Team has some serious holes showing. Lack of Depth, LHH impact bat and the Yanks pen have what?...3/4 guys as good or better than Romano. Sliders to the 9 is a really bad sign for him.
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted May 11, 2022 Posted May 11, 2022 In a world where stadiums had to conform to the rules, and the Yankees didn't get special treatment because "The Yankees", It was 5-0 going into the bottom of the 9th, and Romano didn't even need to be warming up.
saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted May 11, 2022 Posted May 11, 2022 Bo has been rough, move him from the number 2 hole for now He's hit .306/.359/500 in May which is only 9 games, but it seems like an odd time to move him down when he's actually starting to hit well.

Bottom line, your closer needs to hold a 2 run lead in the 9th against the bottom of the lineup. That should be the main story. Romano blew it by hanging the meatiest meatball i’ve seen in a while.

It happens. He's still closed 35 of his last 38 opportunities. Are you suggesting we put someone else in the closer role?

Frustrating but pointless. Both teams play in the same cartoon stadium in the same division. Adjust accordingly. In the real world we lost a game to a team we are chasing when we had 90+ % win probability. Even with Stanton's fake real home run.

I really hate the "both teams play in the same stadium" argument, if that was a thing that mattered, why have ANY rules on stadium dimensions? If you have a stupid ******** park, you can build your team around that stupid ******** park. The Yankees have had more than their share of left handed batters with warning track power who have had their numbers inflated by that ludicrously short porch (obviously that doesn't apply to Stanton, but Stanton is having a pretty s*** season and gets an absolute gift like that to pump up his numbers in this case...)

The baseball gods gave us a game when Zimmer hit a pop fly homer in Houston. They took one away when Stanton hit a pop fly homer in NY.
Laika Community Moderator Posted May 11, 2022 Posted May 11, 2022 The thing with Yankee Stadium is that it's just kind of sad and pathetic So they had this vintage stadium people liked, lots of history, but it had a joke of a short porch They build a new, modern stadium and MLB somehow bent over and let them keep the joke of a short porch even though new stadiums have to fit certain parameters. Special treatment. Now they have a s***** new stadium nobody cares about and they don't even get full attendance because of ticket pricing and s***. They have basically debased the new stadium by rolling the joke dimensions over. They could have build something original, inspiring, and creative, but instead they build the same piece of s*** across the road. lmao.
DigitalRock Old-Timey Member Posted May 11, 2022 Posted May 11, 2022 Very frustrating start to the season, similar to last year
saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted May 11, 2022 Posted May 11, 2022 Very frustrating start to the season, similar to last year You're not wrong. We were 16 and 15 after 31 games. 17 and 14 this year. The season will be defined by the next couple months. Last year we dipped below .500. We also had injuries last year. Our injuries came early this year. Teo is back, but obviously he has to get his timing down. Jansen played his first rehab game. Ryu will be back. Can he get his command back and give us some quality outings. I hope so. Even Biggio played his first rehab game. 2 for 2. Can he get some confidence going and hit .230 or .240. He's a walk machine and has some power. If he can just hit .230 to .240 he's an above league average bat from the left side. There's still lots to be positive about, but it's tough to see after a loss like last night..lol. We have one player outperforming expectations this year and that's Espi. We just need some guys to get hot.

Had the win in the bag, closer has to execute. 96% win probably in the 9th there. The Stanton homerun sucks but we still should have won

saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted May 11, 2022 Posted May 11, 2022 One *hitter* outperforming. Although you can argue Springer is. A couple of arms are doing very well. I mean Vlad and Springer are both performing. They are in the range of what you would expect and certainly doing their jobs. I just meant we have 1 hitter who is surprising to the upside meaningfully performing better than projections. We have 4 or 5 that are a fair amount below their projections. It's early. Things will even out. I think Espi is legit though. His contact rates have always been good. He just has more power this year.

The Stanton homerun sucks but we still should have won I'm not saying the odds weren't in our favour. Rivera is considered by many the best closer ever and he converted 89% of his save opportunities. He blew 11% of them. It happens. To say he needs to get the job done implies he needs to be perfect and that's impossible. I'm sorry your favourite team lost last night. It happens.
