I think they like both players as guys who could make some adjustments and be decent hitters, so I think they probably carry both, unless they think they can get Tapia through waivers (and with his $4M salary it's possible...).

Well, yes, obviously you'd like it to be located better, but the split is his strikeout pitch, and it's good enough that guys will miss it even if they know it's coming. Seems weird not to use it in that spot.

Gonna need the slider a bit more today it looks like. One of the pitfalls of a 2 pitch pitcher is they can guess right 50% of the time.

 

Also noticing right now that all his fastballs that have been hit are up. They kinda know that if the pitch is up its gonna be a fastball and can let loose.
