I said what I said as an expression of endearment.

Ang is top 10. BJMB All Star.

History tells us Yusei Kikuchi will give us 30 starts and 150+ innings.

We were so desperate for innings last year this is a great option in the 5 hole. With the Jays offence he will be a great addition.

About as good as we could get on the market. We stayed incredibly healthy 21 and won the lotto on Ray, Manoah and Matz seasons in the rotation. Who knows this year? We are going to need the depth. He, Pearson (if here) and Stripling all will be needed to start at various times. The Pete Walker pixie dust is a little overblown.

Exactly. Even if it’s a 4.20 ERA logging those innings will be valuable to this team.

Kikuchi has velo but has basically been average and average in both respects. And projects as a league average SP.

The contract is fair. He might have a bit of upside left.

Steven Matz is an interesting name for him to land beside. Can't help but feel like Yusei is at least a upgrade on ol' Matz whose skill set was absolutely maxed out in Toronto

Why is Bauer so average? Is this guy a fellow lib of yours or something?

I'm OK with this as long as it doesn't take away from our 3B budget. Replacing Semien should be top priority over replacing Matz.

It's a 2022 fantasy ranking

So assuming he’ll miss time? Or would you take him after Alex Cobb in a redraft

Eno Sarris is factoring in job insecurity or suspension risk evidently.

Personally I'm on taking him in redraft with a massive discount... Not sure exactly where though

Nah it's Kikuchi.

Berrios

Gausman

Manoah

Ryu

Kikuchi

Pearson / Stripling

Although they might line Manoah up 4th or 5th. But the above is the talent order.

I mean by the end of the season (and probably sooner) Ryu will be viewed as the #5 based on performance.

I’d definitely steer clear of him with premium picks but when it gets to Alex Cobb, Casey Mize, Matz etc… I would’ve picked him before then. Either he’s pitching for the Dodgers, or someone else pretty soon. I don’t think it’s going to be a Ben Simmons situation. No player on a team like LAD is going to want to deal with that s*** (again)

It will be called selling high when he tears his groin or shoulder or eye lid or something come April.

He would look bad ass and scary to hitters with a torn eyelid.

Posted
it's possible... he looked a bit cooked last year

He's always been a big boy. Good chance that conditioning is finally catching up to him. You can barely count on him for 5 innings anymore.

I mean ehhh, he's fine as a fifth starter. At least this adds indirectly adds depth to the bullpen.

For sure

Puts the 8th inning role potentially squarely on Pearson if he can earn it

Makes Stripling a 6th SP/long man in bullpen

Pushes who would otherwise be the last man in the BP to the minors as backup

I like it

Does Pearson have any trade value atm?

I wouldn't sell low on him for nothing. Just curious what other teams would think.

I like that it just increases the depth of the rotation.

I'm hoping Ryu bounces back, he didn't seem right after the glute injury last year.

He surely has trade value but he's not like headlining a deal for a deal for a controllable star or anything like that.

Manoah is the best starter the Jays have. If it isn't apparent now, it will be by September.

Currently getting my season bets in with my bookie to back up my opinions with my cash. I'm usually not one of those types to go super bullish on Jays prospects but I've seen enough out of this guy to make that statement. Plus his rotation mates aren't going to put up THAT high of a bar for him to beat.

He looked phenomenal at first but the stuff tailed off a bit IMO. I have tempered expectations and expect something like 3 WAR if he stays healthy.

Imagine Manoah shows up to camp and he's sitting like 95

Probably not but it seems like every year there is one guy who finds some more velocity.

Would have preferred this without the third year. Not a huge fan. Would have preferred this money was put elsewhere. He could surprise us like Matz though. His Major Career has been extremely unimpressive thus far however.
