Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted September 21, 2021 Posted September 21, 2021 It's 1-0 guys? Thanks. Wasn't sure. It's the 0 part I'm concerned with. Tampa's offence has scored the most runs in baseball. Lourdes!!!

InsideThePark Verified Member Posted September 21, 2021 Posted September 21, 2021 It's not dumb at all, the ump can't say whether a runner touches a base or not unless he is asked, or it's a play at that base that he needs to make a call of safe or out. Can you imagine the shitshow if umps said stuff while a runner was rounding the bases and a fielder heard "he missed second" from the ump? I didn't say it was dumb, but that it might be, I can understand both sides of that potential argument. Obviously yelling it live during the play wouldn't happen, but I can get behind an argument that once the play is over the umpire has a right to call a runner out for not retouching 3rd without needing the appeal process. The one the other month where the runner missed 1st, and the Jays touched 1st but it didn't count because it wasn't a clear appeal but more of an accident was just beyond dumb though.
