gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted September 5, 2021 Posted September 5, 2021 The fact that Semien went to the Jays knowing he wouldn't play SS leads me to believe that he will go to the highest bidder regardless. Whether the Jays will end up being the highest bidder for him this winter remains to be seen, but if they are, then I don't think he'll have an issue playing 2B full time and being Bo's backup at SS. Dude wants to get paid, can't blame him. I've said before, if you can get both Semien and Ray locked up on 4 year deals, then go for it. If it goes beyond 4 years, as it could for Ray, then they might have to go a different direction. If you have to offer a 5 year deal in order to land them, then i'd say go for it. You can always trade Semien after or during his third year if Orelvis pans out. I'm wondering if Orelvis would be able to play a passable second base, he can't be worse than Biggio. Let Orelvis take over Semien's role / backup SS and 3B.
Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted September 5, 2021 Posted September 5, 2021 What's Merryweather's status? Good chance he rejoins the team in New York but better chance he hurts himself packing.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted September 5, 2021 Posted September 5, 2021 He'll likely finish 2nd in CY. 5/120 or so for Ray. Yea that sounds about right. He really is neck and neck with Cole right now. But you gotta factor in the Yankee angle and playoff positioning.
InvincibleTiger Verified Member Posted September 5, 2021 Posted September 5, 2021 I hope the Jays' brass has taken notice how much a subpar bullpen can really tank an otherwise top team. What is encouraging is no more Dolis, Chatwood, Hand, etc but took them so long to realize
jaysguy44 Old-Timey Member Posted September 5, 2021 Posted September 5, 2021 Good chance he rejoins the team in New York but better chance he hurts himself packing. Lol
jaysguy44 Old-Timey Member Posted September 5, 2021 Posted September 5, 2021 Sal Perez having an unreal year, poor guy needs to get out of KC
DigitalRock Old-Timey Member Posted September 5, 2021 Posted September 5, 2021 Irvin was getting calls off the plate jesus ump.
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted September 5, 2021 Posted September 5, 2021 Ray is dominating a lot of solid RHH.
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted September 5, 2021 Posted September 5, 2021 What's Merryweather's status? Year to year
rydermike Verified Member Posted September 5, 2021 Posted September 5, 2021 I'm hoping for Ray to go at least 8 given his pitch count. Avoid the bullpen Well looks like I jinxed the pitch count. He was at 41 through 3 and a third, then like another 20 to get the next two lol. My bad
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted September 5, 2021 Posted September 5, 2021 I still remember when a lot people didn’t believe Merryweather was a real person lol. If we could get him back awesome. I just don’t think you can expect anything from him at this point.
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted September 5, 2021 Posted September 5, 2021 Vladdy wants the batting title.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted September 5, 2021 Posted September 5, 2021 Vladdy can actually really run once he gets going.
jaysguy44 Old-Timey Member Posted September 5, 2021 Posted September 5, 2021 Nice, Yanks are going to their pen fairly early
InvincibleTiger Verified Member Posted September 5, 2021 Posted September 5, 2021 Can we give Pearson an inning today?
Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted September 5, 2021 Posted September 5, 2021 Can we give Pearson an inning today? We sure can bud
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted September 5, 2021 Posted September 5, 2021 I’m ready for Cole and The Yankees. Start spreading them cheeks!
Solaxys Old-Timey Member Posted September 5, 2021 Posted September 5, 2021 Insane to think that we have 4 all stars, 1 CY young candidate, and 1 still in striking distance for triple crown yet we are so far behind in post season race.
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted September 5, 2021 Posted September 5, 2021 Didn’t think I’d be tuning in in the 5th to see a no hitter in progress with an 8 run lead.

"So far behind"? Probably 4 games back after today. I get what you're saying though, if this team had a top 10 pen we are right there with the Rays.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted September 5, 2021 Posted September 5, 2021 Ray is getting f***ing squeezed.

Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted September 5, 2021 Posted September 5, 2021 It's crazy when you watch Ray. He looks very hittable with mainly 2 pitches but the results are obviously very different.

Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted September 5, 2021 Posted September 5, 2021 Those sliders don’t look very hittable at all. Agreed with that but it's his fastball that seems like it should get hit more often than it does.
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted September 5, 2021 Posted September 5, 2021 You ruined it. No kidding, I hit send, switched back to the game and first pitch after hitting send was the double, lol
